Props to Riot for the new juggernaut
As expected there are a lot of threads on the Aatrox's rework, but there's something that hasn't specifically been mentioned yet. For some reason, the juggernaut subclass seems to be the hardest to make for Riot, and one of the rarest. True, they are not actually that few, but most of them are old champions with old designs who barely fit the juggernaut concept. Since the juggernaut update 3 years ago there have been only 1 new juggernaut releases and 2 reworks, being Illaoi, Yorick and urgot. It also does not help that 2 of the juggernauts reworked in the update ended up being somewhat of a failure (Skarner and Mordekaiser). And now we finally have a new juggernaut, Aatrox. I have to say that he has really been thought out well, his damage potential is really high but is so unreliable and telegraphed. He also has close to no mobility for a melee (his E is barely better than Illaoi's W) and all of this makes him extremely easy to kite, which fits the basic features of a juggernaut really well. It's also almost kind of moving to see a new champion on PBE that can't actually steamroll his face off even when fed, for how much unreliable his kit is. With that said, since this rework brought a class change, it's clear that it will alienate so many current Aatrox players. He went from an autoattacking diver who preferred dueling choosing his own battles to a raid boss caster who is heavily reliant on his team to lock down enemies for his damage to get off perfectly, so it's pretty a much a 180 degrees turn around. With that said, props to Riot for the bold move and for finally releasing a juggernaut, a rare class that not many people effectively like.
