Since the mid season mage update support mages are in a slightly better spot to deal damage while also supporting.
Support is my secondary role and I play
.
In general supports take kills intentionally for a few reasons:
- It is sometimes more important to secure the kill early in the lane than to let the ADC try to get it. Sometimes the opportunities to get a kill in the bottom lane presents itself early and it is better for an opposing laner to die early and get behind than to let the ADC try to secure the kill.
- I take the kill because if I don't I will die. Most mages are squishy so sometimes you will need to kill the opponent before they kill you
- The ADC is relatively unreliable or does not do much damage early (like a
). I can tell really early if the ADC is OK or new to the role
- The ADC may need to blow a summoner to get the kill. I don't like having the ADC do this because I want us to have both our summoners up for the next time they come back to lane.
- To save your life. I will sometimes take kills when the ADC may be winning the fight. They will pout and say "I was going to win that", but I really don't know if they were going to win. It was a coin toss and I was not going to risk it by not interfering.
A lot of the times when I take kills I do not do it intentionally. My last Sona ranked game I had 9 kills. I think I took 2 kills early intentionally, but the last 5 I just picked up when we were grouped in team fights against a team that built low magic resist.
