Why does Yorick have a 140s cooldown on his ult at level 16?

Basically, Yorick is a huge outlier in how little his ult's cooldown scales down by rank. Currently, his ult cooldown is 160/150/140. The only champs who have a higher cooldown at level 16 are (200/180/160) and (same as karthus now, but it was 180/160/120 before 7.8) Yorick is tied with at level 16 (gangplank's ult goes 180/160/140)

Every other ultimate in league has a lower cooldown. Most fighters have an ult that scales down to about 70-90 seconds, but for some reason riot thinks that Yorick's ult deserves a cooldown as long as a global ultimate.

I think riot is under the impression that the best use of Yorick's ultimate in the late game is to send the maiden to splitpush a lane (which would make his ult "global"). However, Yorick can't afford to send her to split because he needs her more than ever in the late game. The maiden gives yorick the damage he needs to duel AND is the only way for yorick to summon mist walkers for teamfights. I would love to see the cooldown reduced or at least start on cast like ult and make the maiden last for 60 seconds. However I doubt riot will make any changes because Yorick seems to be once again forgotten.

It's not like it dies faster than a super minion or anything.

Riot assumed this guy would be the MVP of pro scene. Making pro players pick one objective over another....

If I had to take a guess it's likely due to its incredible dueling potential. Yorick simply demolishes anyone if they choose to trade autos with him with the Maiden of the Mist up as his attacks deal 5/7.5/10% of the target's Maximum Health bonus Magic Damage every 2 seconds. She also scales with his Bonus Health, Boot Tier, and Bonus AD making her a potent force on her own, while also possessing the ability to control 4 Mist Walkers (combined with Yorick this makes up to 8 Mist Walkers) of her own (that also scale off of Bonus Health, Boot Tier, and Bonus AD) that can leap to enemies marked by Yorick's Mourning Mist (E) that deals 15% Current Health Damage on its own. The Maiden also immediately summons an additional Mist Walker every time a nearby enemy dies. She also possesses a special trait known as "Unholy Covenant," making her special to other pets in the regard that she is not prioritized by turrets before Minions, allowing her to quite literally solo-push a lane by herself if left unchecked. All this makes Yorick one of the most potent 1v1 specialists and split-pushers in the top lane, able to easily stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Darius - who is usually avoided trading with like that at all costs.

also she unlike any other pet in teh game, has NO lifespan and can remain in the game indefinatly. the only way to kill her to to have her in lane. in teh jungle she is immortal

ah but you are ignoring an interesting detail.

she makes you a jungle god while she is active. you just trash jungle mobs with little effort. so while your ult is up. quickly clear both jungles then dispatch her to a lane while your team pushes a different one.

140 x 0.60 (40% CDR) = 84.

If you don't have 40% CDR on Yorick, you're not building right.

You can duel JUST FINE without your maiden, even without your minions if you do it right and build right. In a teamfight, you just isolate the carry with your W, and then one shot them. Bam. No need for your maiden for anything except tanks.

These threads implying Yorick is weak need to stop, he's borderline broken, and I don't want one of my favorite champs gutted because morons can't play him for a free win.
