Ranked vs Normal opposite of how you would think

In my experience over the past few days I have had a wonderful time playing in normals with considerably serious people who were there to have fun and win. So I figured hey why not play ranked again if the community is good. Then when I went to ranked suddenly there are a bunch of people who are testing new champs and playing things like Jhin top or they just outright raged all game. I don't understand why this is. You would think that in a ranked game people would be more like it is in normals but it was the opposite. Has anyone else had the same experience and why do you think that it's like this.
