Is my MMR really good or is matchmaking broken?

So I only play normal blind pick and recently, i have been having opponents that are way higher in rank than I am. I am Silver 5 and I have been matched with low golds to mid plat players and I even got matched with a Diamond player; I don't think this is right. Here's my OP.GG: http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=SaltLord451

Edit: Now im ONLY being matched with plat opponents.

Your MMR in normal is completely separate from your MMR in ranked, which is what you'd expect. I'll use myself as an example:

In ranked, I play almost exclusively as a jungler, and I have a set of 5 or 6 go-to champions that I can play at the Platinum level.

When I play norms, I'll play different roles, different champions, different tactics - My play is absolutely not Platinum level on these champions or in these roles.

Ranked is always your best bet for improving your play, because that's where you're most likely to be playing with people who are on their preferred champions and roles.

And then you get the one tricks who went on a losing spree in their diamond games, and will play a normal cause they know their MMR is much lower there and spam their one trick all while bragging in all chat as they crush people far below their skill level

personally I always felt the system was broke; I either get paired with people WAY higher rank then I am, get stomped, and learn nothing because I cant exactly see most of the mistakes I make

or

get paired with people who know nothing and stomp them, and in turn, learn nothing, but walk away with an over inflated ego

You can always see your mistakes, you just need to think what it was. Whether it'd be over extending, not warding, staying under tower while being low, getting baited, and etc. You just have to focus and think on what just happened and then correct it.

no I mean other more subtle mistakes, I like to call them ghost mistakes, usually because while in game I don't notice

Ah okay. I get it.

hmm i guess i can play Talon at a gold to plat level because i actually solo kill/win my lane against these gold-plat players as a silver 5.

So I only play normal

1,397 normals < 1,456 ARAM, You LIE!!. XD

But seriously. I don't know, is top 25% good enough to see golds and plats in ranked? Because that seems to be your normals. https://na.whatismymmr.com/SaltLord451

But don't worry about facing higher ranked people in normals, those people probably don't play much in normals anyway so they aren't where they are supposed to be in their normals ranking.

That's odd... i only played like 20-40 ARAM games. That site is probably inaccurate.

Dammit... XD

Oh well, thanks for telling me.

Normal MMR is separate from ranked MMR completely. And sometimes a player will have a vastly different skill level between the two, especially if they one-trick in ranked. In normals most players play a much wider variety of champions and roles, so you are really seeing a player's "average" skill level. Wheras in ranked they mostly only play roles and champs they are good at, so you are seeing them at their best. So for this reason, you could have someone in gold and someone in bronze who are the same MMR in normals.

It is also important to note that in preseason there are a lot of rapid changes, and some people adapt faster than others. It usually takes a little while for people's MMR to accurately reflect how well they have adjusted to the changes.
