I mean...runes are free anyways so why can't rune PAGES be free? All it does is make changing my runes for certain champs a hassle. I don't want to pull up a notepad with the rune setups for every champ every time i play a game.
JavelinJoe2 votesIt is not hard and you have plenty of time to switch them since it is fairly easy to know what to pick for each champion once you get the hang of it. And buying pages is a permanent investment, but not necessary.

So? Why would I buy a rune page for 6300 BE if I can just switch my runes out for free? On top of that, BE takes forever to earn. It would just be easier if the rune pages are free so I wouldn't have to change them every game.

No. But they would not give those out for free unless under very specific circumstances either. RIOT gives you only what you need to use it. If you want convenience, you have to work for it.
SketchComplex1 votesThey should have refunded rune pages along with runes and gave everyone the 20 mastery pages. (5 of which could be the preset ones we have now, deleteable of course!)

No one would buy a rune page for rp if they can buy it for free with BE. Even if BE takes a while to earn.
Quepha1 votesIt's the exact same ratio of BE saved per RP spent as a 6300 tier champ and we know that Riot's customers spend money on that. It's a better ratio of saved BE than you get from buying 4800 and below champs with RP and some customers even engage in that practice.
Even if players don't engage in buying rune pages with RP over BE despite it being equal or better value than the champs they are willing to buy with RP, that still indirectly encourages customers to buy champs with RP by diminishing their stocks of BE so Riot gets their money anyways.
theminiom1 votesI seem to recall that they put an extra few seconds in champion select so that people can fix their runes due to it just being released, it's gonna be hell for me once they remove that
Sniper4021 votesI think they need to be free because well if you don't have a good rune page your screwed, BUT if they take this away then they'll probably make some other aspect of the game pay. So maybe they could have it level based, but also pay to win. But hey that's just my opinion on the matter.
