Karthus Needs Some Buffs

Support mages, melee carries, assassins. They all have two things in common: The capability of being a mid-laner, and the capability of countering Karthus .

Now, I know that Karthus isn't countered by everyone, but if you have played the game enough, most to all champions played in mid lane are the three types listed above, and it would seem as if there are more champions that counter Karthus that don't counter him or by countered by him. In general, high-DPS and/or tanky champs can take the Deathsinger and squish him into the ground. This is why I think Karthus should get some sort of buff; this would also help him shine as the late-game mage that he really is:

Q: Scaling should be the same, but at max rank it would be nice if he could do more damage the longer he attacks an enemy with his Q; it doesn't have to be that much more, but it can stack several times and do around 20% extra damage or something like that at max stacks (the number can easily be changed).

W: The slow and decreased MR is definitely good, but at max rank it would be great if it would apply damage reduction of some sort, possibly scaling from AP. Not too much reduction but it would apply to anything the victim would attack.

E: Perfectly fine; can stay the same.

R: Does more damage at early ranks and early game in general, and also does extra damage at max rank based on how much health the target is missing.

TL;DR: More damage with Q the more times you use it on the same guy, damage reduction with W, and extra dmg based on missing health for R, all at max rank.

You guys could probably argue how he doesn't need a buff or this buff is too OP, but I would appreciate constructive criticism and/or what you think a buff for Karthus would look like.

I wrote a long response to this but I guess it didn't go through, so here's a quick one:

Karthus has ground targeted damage meaning minions can't be used to block it.

He has long range with this too and a wall, making him an effective zoner, which makes jungle ganks easier.

Most importantly, Karthus should be weaker in Lane versus almost any mid laner because of his ultimate. Like Twisted Fate, Karthus gets himself fed by using his ultimate to secure kills in other lanes, unlike most mid laners who secure kills in Lane with an assassination combo. If Karthus had even matchups in Lane, his ultimate would allow him to snowball out of control. Being weak in Lane is what allows Karthus and TF to have a high impact ultimate that affects the rest of the map.

So no buffs please.

So by what you are saving is twisted fait should be neffed so that he is week like Karthus okay no stun take away the ad bonus to all of his abilities. Reduce his attack speed, health and reduce his attack damage.

Their now Twisted is worthless. Happy.

I'm glad the OP at least got my point.

Since you clearly didn't: Twisted fate is already as weak as Karthus. Both are weak in Lane. Both are weak in 1v1 anywhere at any time. Both are weak in teamfights.

Both are exceptionally strong at controlling the map. Both can snowball teammates (and themselves in tandem) by using their ultimates for other lanes. Both require the player to have good Mao awareness and strategy rather than crazy mechanical skills. Karthus doesn't win by winning Lane, Karthus wins by using his ult to get a double kill bot Lane after they think they just survived a jungle gank. Karthus wins by securing a double kill top when your jungler counter ganked theirs and they retreated from the fight at 25% health.

Twisted fate didn't win Lane. Twisted fate wins by ulting bot Lane when they extend because they see your jungler top and secures a double kill. Twisted fate wins by ulting top and stunning them under tower for a kill when they were going to get a kill tower diving. Twisted fate wins by ulting across the map to join a large minion wave at an undefended turret.

You'll note basically, that Karthus has a more reliable easy to use ult (and it also damages lanes other than the one he's killing, which helps too) while TF is slightly stronger (can teleport to take turrets) but needs more skill to use his ult (needs to actually get in the fight and use his other abilities for damage, and also abandons Lane to do so).

No other mid laner can do what TF and Karthus do, that's why the other mid laners are stronger in Lane, in team fights, etc...

They should add something that makes him stronger the more team mate that are dead. Along with the 7 seconds of being alive and dead.

I think it would be cool if Karthus's E would passively do more damage the longer he stays in combat, or maybe even in general with his Q and stuff. Another idea I would consider is having his E passively restore mana or health or buff ally AD when they are in the radius of his E. Or maybe he reduces enemy AD when they are in the range of his E (in terms of countering early game OP-ness, most or all of this would be at max rank of the respective abilities).

TF is bad in teamfights but he is more of a split pusher/TP mania type of guy as ValyrianBlade has said, but at least TF has some sort of stun, unlike Karthus who has no hard CC that can completely immobilize an enemy. I think this could be a good idea for a double-passive kind of thing:

Passive: Master of Death

Death Defied: Blah blah blah all the same stuff

Last Breath: When Karthus kills an enemy champion, it deals AOE magic damage in a radius to enemy champions around it and slows them. Targets that are close enough to the corpse will be rooted for 1 second. (30 sec CD)

This would allow for AOE damage in teamfights and for enough CC to make a big presence while having long enough of a cooldown to be able to not be OP. This could easily be changed but I want to hear opinions about it first.

How about he gets bonus damage and magic pen for each dead champ (ally or all) plus Death Defied.

@ValyrainBlade never thought about it like that, good point but most of the points I made were related to late game (i.e. buffs for his abilities at MAX rank)

@iAmB3EAST Might be your keyboard; could be that it doesn't register on your keyboard so the ability doesn't go off

He needs that season 2 wall. E should inflict grievous wound, or a damage over time effect that last for 4 seconds and constantly refreshes so long as you get hit by the defile damage or the wall of pain.

Karthus is pretty strong to be honest. His q makes it easy to farm, so even if you are "countered" you should still be able to get gold. To me his biggest weakness is late game where everyone has MR and zonyas. His ult just doesn't seem to do enough damage unless you are way ahead and can be fairly easily avoided all together. Therefore, the only buff I can imagine would be to have his ult cause grievous wounds and/or magic penetration upon casting.

If you are getting killed by Katarina your not farming so that is a terrible point.

His ap scaling is terrible. It is imposible to single target in team fight so your damage is halved and mr and lifesteel make your poke with Q do nothing late game.

He need spellvamp more mana and more damage. Give his wall back the 35% at max and the armor pen. Have his e give stacks passively that give spellvamp and more damage after it is toggled on. Then have him loos all the stacks when it is toggled off.

How about faster move speed or magic pen on his Q's. He is hard counted by 10 champs meaning you lost mid before the game starts.
