My thoughts on assassins and burst champions
Personally I believe that burst damage is way too high, and that assassins have way too many tools to take down a target when compared to what their targets have. I also think that dps champions can really be hit or miss. so for example, an extremely powerful assassin is Rengar himself and I've found that hes able to get to his targets almost anywhere at any time. I know he's just doing his job, but it gets a little unfair when the only thing an adc or support has to get away is flash which is just countered with his, or just you know a bush jump. other assassins can also be a big problem. akali is a really good champion right now, but i don't think her damage is healthy. since her q and r are the only two damaging abilities she has, her q has become extremely powerful, especially when paired with gunblade. this may be how you're supposed to play her, but it's not healthy to have a power spike on your first item even as an assassin. pyke as an assassin support is really good at his job, but his kit has a medium high skill ceiling. this is in a healthy place except for the fact that, once you reach this skill ceiling, there isn't much else to learn. you just hold q and hit it and e while they are slowed hit that, auto, then ult for a free kill. which btw his ult needs a base damage nerf really badly. going onto burst damage champions, there are a few who need to be looked at. Lux (whom I main) for one is quite powerful and does her job nicely, but some of her power relies in items a little too much. one frost fang is enough to make one e deal 180 damage at rank one, even though it just got nerfed. another champion is irelia, who isn't supposed to be a burst champion, but ended up being one. although riot has basically destroyed her abilities and scaling since her reworked release, I just witnessed an irelia today with electrocute take down a pyke with a simple e q q. Personally, I think her power should be somehow shifted over to a slightly more tanky side with less damage overall and with her damage more spread out. she also needs an extremely small q cd when she kills a minion with it because it's not health that she can just kill a full wave in under 10 seconds and not miss a thing. another burst champion would have to be neeko. I understand shes really new so we have to wait a few patches for a nerf or buff or whatever she needs, but as of right now, her ultimate is too game changing. with enough ap and good positioning, you can just press it and get a pentakill. her scaling isn't the problem, rather it is the base damage. For my last point, dps characters can be a little hit or miss. all the time i find kog'maws and they either go 0/14 or 14/0 which is not okay. it may depend on the matchup and gold income and skill altogether, but it seems to be around the board. vayne, corki(ish), kai'sa, fiddlesticks, etc. Lethal tempo is a good dps rune, but there is something about it that I can't put my finger on, but it's not as impactful when you need it to be. conqueror gives extra ad to also help bruisers have an extra oomph, but it isn't needed due to the shear overpowered fact that you became corki's old passive but across the board.
