What is URF?

URF is a game mode that appears about three times a year as a rotating game mode. And that time of the year is almost here! You can already "enjoy" ARURF in the PBE servers.

URF includes the following changes to the normal summoner's rift:

  • Unlimited mana/energy
  • 80% cooldown reduction from the start
  • No minion farming
  • Everything else is irrelevant

Yes, indeed... Strategy in this game mode is reduced to the point where you don't really have to think at all. Aim your abilities and spam them for the whole 15 minutes it lasts. If you happen to die, you will be back in no time. Just take teleport and be wherever whenever and continue spamming like the bot you are. However be warned, Rito was nice enough to include random pick into the game mode to trick players thinking they won't be facing that Nidalee 100% of the time... only in truth the enemy team will use all their rerolls to get her nevertheless.

Expect to be tired after five games and swearing to never enter URF again and then realizing Rito had plans to keep URF around for two whole weekends. What a treat! Now you can also enjoy URF gameplay footage from all your favorite youtube gamers for months to come cause all they did was record URF games (on PBE as well as on live servers).

Yes i played regular URF and it was annoying playing against the same champs every game

A lot of people disagree with you including myself. It was never boring for me, until it all became random and all I got most of the time were underpowered champions and the enemies almost all the time had a fizz or zed or evelynn. It's basically the same thing except you don't get to have fun. I once played against a fizz 6 games in a row, so please don't tell me that it's better than before because it's not.

Just make Nemesis URF. It'll never be the same game because no one can agree on who the 20 shittiest URF champions are. :^)

That would certainly be interesting. But I'd guess people would still always pick certain champions for the enemy.

Right, but the bottom rung of champions are by no means slouches, and they're all pretty even against each other. Besides that, the bottom rung is actually really big in URF, so I wouldn't be surprised if half the roster sees more play in Nemesis URF.
