I have renekton permabanned because I just can’t seem to lane against him. He isn’t a common pick, but if he is picked I just can’t win lane. I feel as if there are more meta picks that I should be banning, but renekton is the champ I can’t play against. How do I play against him?
Respect his fury bar and back up when its full. He has fairly long cooldowns early on so your ideal time to hit him is when he's low fury and spells on CD.
You will spend most lanes against him playing passively because he has immense power over most lanes early on. Depending who you play you either want to wait until a major power spike like first back or a finished item to fight him, or minimise interaction and just wait for grouping to beat him in the 5v5
just accept the fact that hes going to hit you, and you are going to die.
Renekton is one of those, "win lane, lose game" champions. His main purpose is to win lane and thats about it. He does his job well, probably better than anyone besides maybe Tahm Kench
He actually is a common pick atm. Despite his avg win rate, he's very popular, placing him at a top tier pick among players.
As for what he is, he is a self-sustaining lane bully. He's quite capable of taking out half your HP bar with one combo. After the second combo, he usually ignites you for the guaranteed kill.
As for how to deal with him.
Legend: Tenacity/Unflinching Runes can help with his stun as well as getting Mercury Treads early on. Bonus Armor stats from your runes will also help mitigate much of his early damage.
If you are in an unfavorable match up then Doran's Shield might help you with sustaining his pressure in lane.
Otherwise, read up on his skills online to get a better understanding as to how they function, especially when empowered by his passive. And memorize his cooldowns. This will inform you of his weaknesses and when and where to exploit any and all openings he presents to you in game.
