Reached my goal!

I hit my goal of reaching Plat this year, and I did it sooner that I thought! Every year I've stopped at Gold V, but after being able to beat mid plats in the mid lane with my mains in norms, I decided to go for plat this year.

Boy did I learn a lot during my climb. Vel'Koz is my favorite and best champion, so I played him support. I usually do very well during laning phase, so my logic was if I could get myself and the adc fed, then that meant I had one less person to worry about and our jungler could help mid and top snowball. That's why I played him support rather than mid.

I wanted to reach Platinum using just Vel'Koz and I did get so far, but once I reached around mid gold I started getting counter picked hard. I learned Soraka, Nami, and Sona could be a major pain in the ass for me, especially since it took me a while to learn how to play against them. I couldn't just whittle them down, I had to BURST them down. As stubborn headed as I was, it took me quite a while before I realized I couldn't pick him in every situation. I had a game where the enemy team had Rengar, Zed, and Diana... I could have picked Vel'Koz and had a great laning phase, but then our squishies would have little to know peel from the divers. In this game I had to pick Janna, which resulted in a win for us. Once I reached Gold 1, I found out I play a really mean Sona, which got me to Plat rather quickly!

I wanted to share my experience with climbing the ladder, as it did teach me quite a bit about the game. I learned a TON about positioning as well!

I also hate Dynamic Queue, and we all know why. I played solo in about 95% of my games and I climbed as a support. The games I DQ'd in, I lost every single one.

Since I reached Plat way faster than I thought, I just may go for Diamond if I have the time.
