Zyra Mid Main about the PBE changes
Hi, BisexualPlantBoi here (or better known as Sexy Bisex Plant if it isn't obvious). Zyra mid main since season 4. This is my opinion on Zyra's changes on PBE. I'm gonna be as brief as possible:
1. The most important one: Health changes make Vinelashers useless (Reminds me of when 24thCenturyFaux was talking about them during MYMU conversations - Riot just loses all the basic logic when handling Vinelashers.) What are Vinelashers? MELEE plants that slow people with each hit, which is the only advantage of having them. What happens if you sommon it to attack a ranged champion? You either oneshot them with a combo which renders Vinelashers useless, or they keep distance and Vinelashers are useless, because they are melee. What happens when you attack a melee champion? Plop. And Vinelasher is useless. For them to be effective you would need to summon more Vinelashers - but that would mean this change is a nerf when it's supposed to be a buff. You can aswell make Grasping Roots also summon Thornspitters and it would be a bigger buff after you buy Rylai's. Hello Riot?
2. Zyra doesn't have mana problems Mana management is something very easy on Zyra. I can almost spam spells not going OoM and I even have Manaflow Band now. Not to mention it's hard not to have Lost Chapter after the first recall and that's where all her mana problems perish. Better utilize this power budget somewhere else, this is just pointless and does nothing.
3. None of these changes solve Zyra's problems in midlane Although these changes would buff her support too, I cannot not mention these two things, because they are just infuriating when playing as midlane Zyra: 3a: She needs her casting animations shortened. You are supposed to be anti-engage mage (stated in MYMU), but your E's cast time screams otherwise: It's so long that you can use it only to engage when enemy is not prepared or doesn't see you, but when the enemy is the one engaging, you just root yourself for 0.75 s and you are dead before Grasping Roots come out. Same with ult, which makes her burst combo clunky and often makes you leave one spell out which fucks it up all. 3b: She needs actual ratios. Zyra just doesn't scale with AP. But now that her plants are shit against champions again and won't last long, she even gets way less plant attacks out of them and this is a perfect opportunity to buff their AP ratio from 1.5 to 2 or 2.5 prefferably. I understand if Zyra is supposed to be early-to-midgame champion, but she's very reliant on enemies making mistakes and not dodging her easily predictable skillshots and/or venturing to her garden, otherwise she doesn't snowball and it is pain to play her. Btw it doesn't matter that you would buff Zyra support, the health changes will destroy her anyway (not that I mind).
