A discussion about of meta players and off meta picks
So league of legends is a game that brings creativity out of player. It's a game that allows you to play any champion in any role and build anything on them. But I wanted to hold a bit of a discussion on off meta players.
Now I'm not here to complain. It's very satisfying to pick something like barium. And someone, someway, it actually ends up working and benefiting your team (I know from expierence) but I think some people don't understand what crosses the line when you intend to win games. For example. In the recent world championship, miss fortune support was picked. And fox (I think that's what they were called I don't watch pro league of legends much) ended up winning. Guess what I saw in my ranked games the next day?
Let's me clear something up for people. Miss fortune is not a support. 99% of people who play mf support have no clue what they are doing. I've played with and against many mf supports and i either stomped the bot lane, or lost with a mf support because that's how mf support works. Its fine to take inspiration from pros, but you need to remember, these are PROS. They know how to pull these things off. And we as regular players, usually, don't.
I completely support off meta players, let me get that out of the way. But when you pick something so stupid, so bad, and end up losing the game for 4 other people, there is something seriously wrong.
There is a meta for a reason. Sure master yi mid is not bad, but there are other champions that do the same thing he does in the mid lane but better. Does blitzcrank jungle work? Sure, anything works in league of legends. Is it effective? No. When you pick something like that you limit yourself and your team. When you could have picked someone who did it better like hecarim
Im curious to hear everyone's thoughts about this. So please leave a comment and remember to be respectful
