Understanding riven

So ive been wanting to learn riven for a while now and have a few games on her. But i need to know how to player he better. Is there an easier way to do he fast combos? Im an absolute retard when it comes to this stuff so for those of you how are nice enough to help me i need yalls help. Tell me in the most dumbed down way ppssible how to play riven effectively. And i dont mean what to do throughout the game. I can make those decisions on my own. I mean how do i do cancel combos, outplays, chaining abilities, etc.
