Well once again I see a thread where someone gives a guy horrible advice or the people who are probably capable of giving good advice are just rude. I played nocturne an un healthy amount before s5 ( im not a huge fan of his really bad 1st clear ) The way you should play nocturne in every aspect is to gank where you can get kills.
What if all your lanes are pushed up? Well that mean's you have 3 things you should do to progress through the game:
-
clear your jungle
-
counter gank
-
counter jungle
Clearing your jungle:
Clearing the jungle should really only be something you do when you are playing against a jungler that doesn't gank AND your lanes are pushed up. On a side note, Nocturne does have a very fast clear speed due to his passive, q, and his w attack speed steroid. One thing that may benefit you is if you know a lane is very hard to gank because they have serious mobility or they just ward very very well, consider farming until you have level 6. Once you are level 6, you need to try and use your ult to gank a lane every time it is up.
Counter ganking:
When you first start playing, you are really just learning how to keep track of what YOUR champion is doing. However when you progress, you need to learn how to keep track of ideally what everyone on your team is doing. Im not talking about knowing every time yasuo has cs with his q or some shit. i mean where everyone is and where they will be in the future. This is especially important as a jungler, as you have arguably the most impact on how the game looks. Always try to know where the enemy jungler is, and if you dont, you best be finding his ass. Once you know where they are you can start to predict where they will gank a little bit better. Another way you can tell where they will be is consider every champion in every lane, what makes this champion appealing to gank for. If you can't think of anything, odds are, they wont be at that lane.
The actual fighting part of counter ganks hopefully shouldn't be that hard. Focus down the champion that will deal the most damage and try and block an important spell so you get that rad double attack speed steroid.
Counter jungling:
Once again another are nocturne excels at. You combine his great clear speed with his godlike dueling and use them both to take a nice big shit on the enemy jungler. Understand however you can't just walk into their jungle and either kick their ass every time or steal all the farm. You need to evaluate whether you can for sure win a fight against them, and whether the closet lane is in a position to rotate and kill you. If you know you cannot win a fight against this jungler, do not go into their jungle until you know they are not or likely will not be where you are, like they just based or they are ganking a lane across the map.
Now we get into the builds:
If your team is in need of a tank:
or
or
and

This build is centered around you jumping into the enemy backline and tear the asshole of whoever is fed into pieces. Note that your ult does have a very long range, but that does not mean you should just ult the enemy team whenever you want to. Make sure your team is in a position to fight with you.
If your team has a tank:
or
or
and either

OR
followed by
or

You probably notice it is the same build basically for the last 2 options, just in a different order. If you are " fed " go for the build that buy's your damage first. If you aren't doing so hot, go for the second one or just build straight tank. Also if your team is mostly AD, consider a black cleaver instead of a youmouus ghostblade, or if you need to go tanky, substitute a tank item for black cleaver.
Understand that builds are meant to be based on the opposing team. If the enemy team is entirely AP, randuins omen is not going to help you very much. instead buy another magic resistance item. If the enemy team has more AD however, substitute your banshees veil for a thornmail. You will slowly learn what does and doesn't work against certain teams.
And thats all hopefully my little guide will help.
