How do I deal with Nasus?

Every time I play against Nasus in the top lane, I always feel like I simply can't oppress him. I can't out trade him. I can't out fight him, and I can't out farm him. Every time I attempt to poke him, he heals. Every time I trade with him, he deals more damage, then heals again. Every time I gank him, he simply Wither's one person then runs off. Or if he can't do that, Ults, and then heals for a massive amount of damage during the fight eventually killing one or ALMOST killing one.

But my biggest problem is what he does and what's in his kit BASE. An infinite scaling damage An infinite amount of healing due to the permanent life steal And infinite scaling of base life steal An INSANE POINT AND CLICK slow An INSANE Attack Speed Slow (meaning literally 0 amounts of champion can physically fight back if they rely on their auto attacks) A large amount health from his ultimate

Is it best to let him push to your tower? Try to hold the lane at your tower? I don't understand. No one stops Nasus from farming. He just goes back to lane and farms. More importantly, what do I do in team fights? If the team focuses Nasus, Nasus' team just cleans up because we've wasted so much on the tank that just heals is all up in 2 Q's. Which he WILL hit because of Wither. Or not focus the Nasus, and kill his team, while Nasus just kills your entire team in 1 hit each while being tankier than most small moons. And even more importantly, why does a character who has an infinite damage, have an increased scaling damage on the ability giving him the infinite damage as he levels it? Or, why does his base Q damage increase per level. AND why does it have an ad scaling? If you want to give it purpose to being leveled, you should just add 5-10 damage per level, not 20 per level (max 110)

Yes, I've QQ'd a lot, I just needed to rant, and I wanted an answer.

Unless you picked a bad champion:

  • If he's out-trading you, you started trading too late
  • If he's out-healing your damage, you started attacking him too late
  • If he's escaping ganks with a Wither, you (plural) are doing at least one thing horribly horribly wrong
  • His ult heals for the same amount as Lulu's, and Lulu's has an AP ratio on it

Yes, you want the minion fighting to be as far away from Nasus' tower as possible. There is no place Nasus would rather be than under his tower. If he could hit minions from the fountain, he would not move a single unit for the entire laning phase.

The best way to fight Nasus in a team fight is to kite him. People exaggerate Wither heavily because they look at what it does for its last second of duration and think it does that the whole time. The average slow it does is 65% for 5 seconds, but it's actually worse than that because slows have diminishing returns after they go high enough, which Nasus' does. That's the ENTIRE ability. Nasus has no speed boost, no dash, no blink, and no other way to prevent a target from running away. A champion like Thresh can completely lock down Nasus from doing anything for an entire fight.

The other thing you should do is push mid. Laning phases tend to end at around 15 minutes now. That's not enough time for Nasus to be, well, NASUS. If you push mid, you force him to stop farming. If you're unable to push and his team can defend as 4 people, then you aren't going to win regardless of who the enemy top is.

Building Armor decreases Nasus's damage to you a lot, bouncing a wave off his turret so that he can't freeze and ends up overextending to a gank or losing farm works well in lane, he's suuuuuper easy to kite in teamfights.

Also, it kind of depends on what champions you've been using against him.

Would you say that Nasus reigns supreme? I am thoroughly enjoying how Nasus can dominate every position. Don't focus so much on one champion. Every team has a weakness. Exploit that. Nasus gets stronger as time passes, but it takes time for Nasus to get stronger. You can look at it both ways.

I have never lost to Nasus as Shen. Harass poke with q and ki strike at level 1, if nasus keeps farming you win. If nasus trades, you win.

heres what i realized is the secret to nasus

play nasus until you lose. then you know what beats him

thats what i did. i played nasus until i reached diamond 3. thats when people start countering nasus

and here is what the counter to nasus is in diamond 3. games basically end at 14 minutes and there are nonstop 5v5 fights starting at 14 minutes

at 14 minutes, nasus is just as strong as any other toplaner, such as garen or darius or riven or gp or fiora or irelia

and also, from these 5v5 fights, one team ultimate simply wins, and nasus himself either is on the winning team or the losing team, and if nasus is on the losing team theres no way for him to become stronger than the gold lead that the winning team gets from winning fights

sadly, the "counter" to nasus is elo . if your below diamond 3 theres nothing you can do to beat a good nasus

play nasus below diamond 3 for free wins

and then once you reach diamond 3, nasus becomes weak. nasus is basically free wins below diamond 3 tho

Last Nasus I faced I went Taric top. I traded with him until about lvl 7. Got in his way and made him q me by mistake a few times. Stunned him while a minion died, healed back the dmg.

After lvl 7 I pushed hard, I roamed, my team grouped. We got 2 turrets, and a drag while Nasus got top outer. We pushed again 5v4 and got mid inner while he was freezing top. Pushed out top again, killed him with a gank (he may have 300 stacks, but I'm freaking Taric idgaf). Then while he's back top trying to freeze again, we took mid hib turret and hib. By the time he realized he was derping out top and came to help, we more or less won the game. It was a bit more back and forth as 5v5, but we had an open hib so we won.

Moral of the story, don't fight Nasus. Just get an armored tank and support your team better than he supports his.
