i'm not sure where it's coming from, but when i play a Tanky champion and just NEVER have any AS, not on runes nor masteries but i still find myself with some bonus AS on my stats

is it dragon? pretty sure i checked it couple of times, dragon doesn't give AS, i need to know this and it's killing me

Natural AS increase with level.

Yep! Every champion has natural stat growths!

it's painted in green, it's not my Base AS growth, it's something else i just haven't figured it out yet, but i'm almost positive it's something in the Dragon buff

You have a base AS value. Then as you level, the "AS growth" is considered bonus.

WarlockLaw3 votes

You also get ad per level but the game doesn't call that "bonus ad" it is considered base. This might be a case of weird old coding they haven't moticed/fixed yet, I see this all the time on mages and tanks

Yeah base ad grows but base as doesn't. It probably has something to do with bonus ad being [simply] additive while bonus attack speed is multiplicative an additive multiplier.

No it isn't?

I mean, Bonus AS is a multiplier on your base AS to figure out your total AS, but it's not a multiplicative stat, it's linear

It's just got a different linear progression depending on the champion you're playing.

Oh right it doesn't stack multiplicatively, i just mean to say that if the game displayed your total attack speed from levels and then you bought an item that gave x1.15 attack speed, say, you'd have a hard time calculating the increase.

thats cause the as you gain from items, lvls and stuff is a %bonus that uses your base-as as multiplier. If your base-as would grow per lvl, you would recive far more as from a dagger at lvl 18 than at lvl 1. Therefor, the as-growth(which is also a % bonus) is considered as bonus as.

Attack Speed growth is a percentage ala bonus AS.

No idea why it's implemented like that.

It's your level growth attack speed. The way attack speed works is that you have a base attack speed, say maybe 0.625 attacks per second. This does not change throughout the game. If you have a .625 base, you will have a .625 base for the entire game. You then get percentage increases to this base attack speed each level and from items. If I had 3% growth per level and was level 10, I would have 30% bonus attack speed without any items.

Dragon has nothing to do with attack speed.

FantasySniper2 votes

Actually, they would have 23.2% (Because it's a modified curve, and not linear.)

Sightless661 votes

That is true. Worth keeping in mind.

stats grow per level

Do you have the bonus attack speed at level 1? Sometimes I get that... There is nothing in my runes or masteries to suggest I would.

I am just guessing that it is a visual bug, and either way it is so small that it makes no difference.

Sire Hippington1 votes

not 100%sure, but if you have a 2%as growth per lvl, you will have 2%bonus as at lvl 1

Sire Hippington1 votes

thats cause as is the only stat with a pure %increase(items and co always increase it by a %value rather than a flat one) So it consists of a base-value that is used as the base for the %increase and the %bonus(if you have 0.640as base and get 50% bonus, you end with 0.960, if you get another 50% it adds aditive, so 50%+50%=100%, so 1.280as) therefor, unlike ad or armor, your base value always stays the same to preserve the scaleing with item bonuses and co. Instead of flat increase, you gain aditional %bonus AS per lvl as natural statgrowth.
