I was excited about new rank system...

I WAS....but this "Splashing" will make me continue to want to only play one position. As a Jungle/Support I have 0 ability to last hit and was excited that I'd finally get to try other positions. Now I just keep reading and seeing "well if you suck really bad we want to FIX your main position because you belong lower on your main if you do that bad in other positions" (why?) and "We don't want you to intentionally throw." Maybe I AM where I belong in my main roles, and I actually suck at others? Maybe if I'm THAT bad that you consider it throwing, then I belong wherever I am based on my actual performance? If I'm total trash and I'm rated total trash I don't see the problem, regardless of how I ended up there...

People can do the same thing with a 1 rank system, and often do with smurfs etc. So this addresses something that we already live with and are okay with, but in doing so punishes trash players like me because you decided I belong lower on my main role for sucking in another role...On the flip side, if I play my main, I keep dragging my others up even though they don't belong higher, and I still experience grief by being higher than where I belong in other roles...This "Splashing" is crap in BOTH directions!

Basically, you just made 5x the grind while punishing players for being really bad in certain positions. The whole system seems like absolute trash.

this video should address any concerns you have. It's an interview with someone who worked heavily on the new ranked system.

I was thinking the same as you almost, but after watching some of his explanations i don't think its too bad, Though only time will tell.

Also you're not going to be dragging the other roles up by too much. the splashing is only a few LP so you'll need to win a lot of games to even come close to increasing the rank on other roles, This is not even counting the times they will lose LP or the times you get autofilled into those roles and win/lose.

Edit: They're taking so many precautions that they're even monitoring what peoples ranks would be without this system so if it all goes to shit by they can revert the entire system back to what it is now.

The "grind" will be the same no matter which system. The entire point of a ranked ladder is to place you relative to the rest of the community. There will always be 2% of the playerbase in the top 2%, there will always be 10% of the playerbase in the top 10%, etc. The idea that it will take everyone longer to reach a certain % of the playerbase simply does not happen.
