Unpopular opinion, they kind of missed the whole point of why she's suffering: Stupidly easy to counter, and adding an AP ratio doesn't fix anything, just lazy number buffs. I love that they're considering removing the E duration decrease per attack, it is annoying as f*ck and in most cases, I can barely touch the spirit before it returns from high DPS champs like Renek and Rumble, I ranted about this in yesterday's post. If they sacrificed some bits of her kits in return for self-utility or really soft CC to help her catch up, it would seem plausible. Almost all ability-based bruisers have some ability to help them reach their target except Illaoi. I know, this seems greedy and biased but overall I appreciate the change and the fact that she's under the balance team's radar. Thoughts?

The changes are nice, but they really aren't going to do anything, Illaoi doesn't build AP and putting a single AP ratio onto her slams isn't gonna change that, W change is nice, but she was already an amazing split pusher, so meph, E is gonna be amazing against DoT based champions like Amumu and Rammus, and other tanks, but that lower time is gonna be even more painful during the laning phase, and more tentacles is always nice. Not gonna fix the problems she has, but meph, buffs are nice.

She doesn't have a keystone for lane and has no rune in the second row of resolve because she wants to teamfight with ult

Now they're really forcing her into a sidelane it seems, when she's really a shove+roam to teamfight champ. On top of that they allow her to get 6 tenticle spawns with ult, which is really weird if she's to go in a sidelane

She's weak against mobile champions, and a lot of those have animation cancels so even if she hits her E, she can't use it for long at all

The solution is to make her bad matchups not as bad and that's mainly "can I hit my E on this fkin champ?" and "can I fight this champ when I have their spirit?". If the answer is no to one and/or the other, it's a bad matchup for Illaoi.

I think her W should get some more flat damage and lower %hp damage, mainly to help deal with her worst matchups, I don't think it'd make tanks stronger vs her as she has numerous other ways to deal with them

I think they should look at making the spirit die after Illaoi loses a percentage of her health to the target's damage, rather than just a number of hits. Like, for every 5% of her health they deal, it takes a second of the duration. This would stop DoT champs from instantly taking their spirit back while also encouraging Illaoi to build more health and defenses to keep their spirit longer.

Enemies should be encouraged to fight Illaoi when she lands her E, not just run away.

removing the timer reduction on her e when she takes damage is a really shitty idea.

i mean i like playing the champion, but the cooldown is really low. she can already chain her e on a target. pls leave the counterplay in place.

if you want to do her some good, make her better against ranged matchups and have the tentacles visible, but not targetable without direct vision. this way, ranged champions would have to run up close to them into bushes, like melee champions, to remove them. or at least drop a blue ward.
