Why does Riven ult stay active after she wind slashes?

The way I see it, Riven activating her ult meant her sword was temporarily reconnected and her wind slash is the parts being shot out. So if she is using those pieces as a projectile, why do they stay on the sword?

Shouldn't the sword lose its complete status after the wind slash has been used? Especially considering how low the cd is, not even counting the 45% cdr build she normally goes for.

Because she's not using those pieces as a projectile. As the name implies, wind slash is a slash of wind.

That makes sense.

Gragas should only throw one barrel per game, since technically he can't be holding that many barrels.

ADC should only have like 100 rounds of auto and refills every time on back.

Jinx should only have like, 5 rockets and refills on back.

Draven should only be able to auto every time he catches an axe again.

And all mages and assassin should have their concept scrapped since you know, it doesn't make sense.

Yeah, let's do that, no champion is to have magic powers and abilities.

Here is a detailed analysis on how her ult works http://imgur.com/a/qvpr6

As Dynikus said, "wind slash" uses wind, not the sword's projectiles

Yasuo is commonly known for his use of the wind technique, but Riven is the only other champion that knows this technique (it's why it's believed she is the one that framed Yasuo for his master's murder)

Her abilities description is:

Wind Slash: Riven fires a shockwave...

Perfect example of Gameplay's daily dose of nerf Riven threads.

By that logic, Draven should run out of axes if he doesn't catch them again, and Zed can only Q once, because his shuriken doesn't come back like Talon s. And Sejuani can only ult once as well. Also, Olaf has to pick up his Axe every time or he can't attack at all any more. Same for Katarina . And let's not forget Gragas who obviously only has 1 barrel, but if he ults , he obviously destroys it, so there shouldn't even be a "picking it up again", unless he goes to the store and buys a new barrel. Not sure what Irelia is shooting as her ult, but if it's her blades as well, she's also affected by this. Did I forget anyone?

Another dumb hate post finding a lame excuse, Get good. She isn't even OP.

No thats not how it works her Ult works the same way Yasuo throws his tornado from his sword. That's what makes her technique similar enough for people of Ionia to mistake her kill for Yasuo's kill.So no it wouldn't make sense lore wise and gameplay wise would make her too weak.

On a more literal note, the passive bonus ad should end after using windslash. Doesn't Make sense as its the only abiity in game like that with a dual use ult.

Requiemsfire3/18/2017, 4:28:26 AM1 votes

it's an execute based attack, it only makes sense for it to be her combo finisher.

Even though it's a good idea considering it would add more complex decision making to her ultimate, I do not like the idea of her basic abilities definitely being buffed as compensation which would most likely lead to a more unhealthy Riven in the long run. She's somewhat fine where she is currently until a rework of some sort.

They thought about doing this last season I believe. Riven had a mechanic called edge and while there was some other stuff in there one thing about it was that Riven would have to choose if whether she wanted to use windslash and loose the bonus AD or get bonus AD but windslash isnt as powerful. I'll look for it.

Edit: Here is the @20 page for it http://www.surrenderat20.net/2015/09/930-pbe-update.html

Hate the bitch, but it's part of her identity so fuck no.

As a Riven main, I'm behind this only for the sake of teaching Rivens how to actually play Riven.

I see too many Riven mains firing off her ult right from the start of the fight rather than actually using the damn ult to execute toward the end of it as it was meant to be used. Rivens are basically throwing out damage for the sake of a little more of a surprise factor and "burst." Rivens are actually cutting their DPS and maximum damage output by doing this.

The point of the AD remaining after you wind slash, in my mind, is to deal with the rest of the team after you blow your load on the carries. As for the whole "shooting out metal" thing. Arcade Riven's ult is literally X(Megaman X) charge shots. There's no metal at all. Most of her other skins use the same particles. So there's the flaw in your theory. Riven's like the 19th in win rate in top lane. I don't see a need for an unnecessary nerf.
