Maybe to about how big it is in Esports games when they zoom out for teamfights?

1 800 Top Lane4 votes

Lol please no. People don't need to see over the next 3 walls while they farm in safety.

Fog of War is still in existence...

So are wards.

Are you implying people shouldn't be rewarded for fucking WARDING!?

DeathBot6661 votes

How am I implying that? All I said is that you could see over those walls if you warded. I never said that was a bad thing.

I'd like for a zoom in/out option as well.

Many times i'd wished for a little bit more vision and players that have gotten used to the current vision, won't complain.

There is a zoom in and out option. Personally, I don't really want it zoomed much further out, but that's a personal preference.

HollowMimic9 votes

Oh then, maybe the "out" is not enough for me (figures).

What does it matter if you can adjust it?

DrCyanide13 votes

Being able to zoom out further makes it harder to be snuck up on, as you can see people coming from further away, so an option that changed the zoom to be further out would be a nerf to junglers and anyone else looking to roam.

Extvia1 votes

Wards and map awareness do this anyway. As do pings and callouts.

DrCyanide1 votes

Not to the same extent, as the map is ignored periodically, while the main screen is never ignored.

Extvia2 votes

Yeah, a BIT further out would be nice. I don't like only being able to see the smack dab middle of the bottom lane whenever I'm CSing. Not some absurd vision like 3 walls away or teamfights in events where they zoom out. But maybe like 15-20% more field of view, y'know? Just a BIT will do personally. Either that or being able to disable automatic camera panning when the mouse reaches the corner of the screen. I'd like to target someone on a far corner of my screen without auto panning past them and misclicking.

Agree 100%. Riot did something cool for locked screen players with the angled screen when you're on the shitty side. A straight-up zoom out feature would be so awesome. Similar to Jhin's Ult zoom.

Who the fuck plays with a locked screen

lots of people

really?

Wimbledofy5 votes

yeah my friend in plat plays with locked screen. I don't think it's efficient but people do it.

DrCyanide3 votes

I don't think I've ever seen anyone, in person or in a YouTube video or on Twitch, play with locked camera.

Hennns2 votes

I play with locked camera

DrCyanide3 votes

Pretty sure I've never seen you play, neither in person, nor on YouTube, nor on Twitch.

DrCyanide3 votes

That video's impossible to watch due to how bad it lags. Around the 45 second mark in particular you start to get points where the video freezes for a second and a half or so. Tried re-watching sections multiple times on multiple devices to be sure it wasn't a buffering issue on my end.

I'd double check your recording software or your editing software, because one of them isn't doing the job right.

All that is in locked camera. I unlock it from time to time for certain ults or when angling an approach on a gank, then locking it again as I enter the lane.

No, Jhin ult zoom would be TOO far. Just a BIT will do personally. Either that or being able to disable automatic camera panning when the mouse reaches the corner of the screen. I'd like to target someone on a far corner of my screen without auto panning past them and misclicking.

Pale Pirate13 votes

Or just unlock the camera so you can look where you want. I do that and I feel completely satisfied with the current zoom size.

When I started, I always thought there was a way to zoom out further. I too want 3-4 more wheel clicks out. (I did find an option- but apparently using it could get you perma banned so I never took it)

Something like this, right? https://1drv.ms/i/s!AuFMZD__7mN2gTCl5GTrI1e6ijPF

Yeah, that was so easy to do, I'm actually disappointed. :/

The field of view currently available is a part of the balancing. It's the field of view the game was designed around.

There's a reason that you're zoomed in how you are. The screen size almost perfectly matches your vision range.

arc953 votes

when you zoom out more you run into rendering and performance issue... that's why they wont zoom out Xerath ult like the do with Jhin(I believe they even blur the screen edges on Jhin ult to lower performance strain)

then there also is competitive effects of screen zoom like allowing you to see more without using minimap...

Earl Eulrich3 votes

nope, the game is designed around that frame. If it would be bigger you´d have to enhance range on anything and melees would be even more fucked. just learn to keep track of map movements if you want to know what heppens offside your limited screen.

Rebonack2 votes

Dominion was zoomed out more than Rift.

Always made me feel awkward, especially trying to aim Kog's level 3 Ult.

BlueBilberry2 votes

I hate to say it but I think you are right. After playing for over a year now, I have to say that playing down on bot feels horribly cramped.

And let's take it one step further by bringing in the assassin update. The idea of changing Rengar to camouflage is great but if you can't see his camouflaged state because he is off-screen (and I confirmed this in the alpha replay), the "camouflage" plus "heartbeat" warning is absolutely useless. You still don't have much time to respond to him.

Please give us a bit more screen area to work with.

Quick question, is it mostly cramp when you are playing top side? If so, it's probably because your Hud that shows all your items, abilities, etc. is too big and you should try shrinking it in the Interface menu.

That's what I did

Pretty sure it used to zoom further out. I don't know why they changed it.

ArbiterOfTruth2 votes

Check your display settings. I remember they had an alert that reset settings.

The Sword Saint2 votes

Are you using locked screen? Because that ends up with you wasting a lot of your field of view on useless places compared to unlocked.

Investing in 4k resolution monitor and PC is too expensive just to have the game zoom out a bit. [zombie-nunu-bummed]

LatetotheRace3 votes

You don't actually zoom out, you just get to see everything but bigger.

General Esdeath 2 votes

I wish I could zoom out so far I can see the whole map :^) would be a fun RGM

Speedphoenix2 votes

Can we get it in spectator mode too? i see it for large teamfights at the lcs, can't we have it too?

Darkslayer852 votes

To those people who are saying this would make it too easy to avoid ganks, keep in mind we have fog of war in the first place.

Secondly, teamfights can easily get rowdy and spread across a wide portion of the map. It's hard to teamfight well when you can't even SEE your top laner get focused at krugs when you're busy peeling your mid at raptors.

Actually, those are both good points.

There is one way to the path of true vision. It is a hard way; one only for those willing to take the path. Minimap.

Weasel Kensei1 votes

the game needs a custom camera lock for one

Dawngate... such potential... anyway, Dawngate had this. You know how you can hit Y to lock the camera to center on your character? Well DG had that and the ability to position the camera and hit a button to "save" and lock the camera position to this new placement. This ment you could cycle between "centered" camera and "custom" lock position.

Was great for the laning phase where it was unlikely, though not impossible, for someone to be behind you. This allowed you to use more of your screen real-estate for "seeing" the lane.
