Why do we let 2 players pick at once in ranked?

I can't tell you how many times I've been screwed over by the current system in place. It is THE stupidest mechanic of ranked play, because one of two things always happens:

  1. I'm first of the two picks, and the bottom pick immediately locks in my role/champ and ignores pick order. Sure you can report him, but I have no faith in Rito to actually punish people who go out of pick order.

  2. I'm the second of the two picks, the first pick never called a lane, called a champ, or said a single word in chat, and then he waits until 3 seconds are left on the timer before picking. And there I am stuck with 3 seconds to pick a lane and a champion. And, God forbid, he waits until 1 second left and I planned on picking the champ that he picked, it's probably going to auto-dodge me because I can't pick fast enough.

Rito, this is the dumbest thing that I am being forced to coordinate with another player when over half of them don't even bother typing in chat. One of two things need to happen. Either you (A) separate it and have one player pick at a time or (B) give the second of the two picks a 5-10 second grace period after the other player is out of time. If we're expected to subscribe to the concept of pick order, then you need to ensure that another player can't leave us with an absurdly low amount of time to choose our lane and champion.

It wouldn't be that hard, in fact this would be the easiest fix known to man. And I'm telling you right now that, until this is changed, I'm no longer following pick order. I'm sick and tired of losing LP, being given 30 minute bans, etc. because the troll player above me needs to wait until .5 seconds are left to choose his champion. I'm auto-locking at 15 seconds from now on, because the system that you have in place has forced me to begin violating the rules in order for this game to be playable.

There is no such thing as pick order.... at least in terms of TOS. Riot doesn't punish for it.

I've always been under the impression that Riot specifically says that pick order gets priority over call order. But, either way, it still doesn't address the issues that allowing 2 people to pick simultaneously can create.

Idk but pretty sure riot doesn't care about any order. If someone trolls you in champ select and you are negative/toxic towards that person in game you'll probably get banned. Rekterino
