Why is Jax the way his is?

I just wanna know why Jax is able to be a sustaining, AA dodging, one shotting top laner with CDs that turn him into a leap frog with extreme chaseability and or safety. I would love to provide feedback in areas of his kit that could do with some tuning but I want to keep this short and also it seems to fall upon deaf ears half the time. Why does his leap ALONE deal a shit ton of damage? Why does it have AP scaling? Why can he advance onto enemies while in a defensive stance that you can do very little about?

He is up there with the likes of Yi, Garen, Yasuo & LB, for being amongst the most unfun to play against. When I play against Aatrox, GP, Pantheon or even Illaoi I an aware of the opportuninties for counterplay and if I lose I understand and can actually identify what happened to make things go wrong and be at peace with a loss. With the cancerous champs mentioned above it feels as though their counterplay is "stay far away or die...". If I shit on a Jax and he comes back with a Triforce the game is now up in the air - up for grabs and it is because his kit is toxic. It's unintuitive, boring and gameplay with a skill cap that rivals Crossy Road. Then you wonder why Kai'sa has mechanics consisting of shields, dashes. invis, hybrid scaling etc. It's not like I agree with it but what is an Ashe going to do against the likes of a champion like Jax? I'm so glad that Spear if Shojin is gone but I'm sorry, that is not what made him OP.

It's fine though, they're nerfing A-Sol next patch... For some... reason???

He is a walking ball of stats that Riot keeps relevant for whatever reason.

You just gave me flashbacks of all the times I had to solo deff against their split pushing cuz no one else would only to get destroyed despite using my ult and summoners flawlessly and them tanking like 6 tower shots.

To answer your question, Jax didn't use to be that deadly... now anyone can one-shot each other, to the point where even Jax switched to a more defensive buildpath while doing a ton more damage.

ADC duo laner that builds full glass cannon complains that they cant 1v1 the Bruiser solo laner, more news at 6.

Its difficult to balance him. He's a hybrid (why?) champion to start with. Hybrids are notorious for being overpowered and complete mess to balance (kog'maw's many reworks, kaisa currently in 50% of games...). The other part is, his entire kit is point and click. I'm not saying he's the easiest champion ever, but there is a very low ceiling for him, q usage is the only thing that separates a newbie jax from a pro jax. Similar to old Pantheon (and why he got reworked), this means hes all macro and stats. Once he gets his stats, he can't be countered and there isn't room for him to mess up.

Problems aside, hes particularly strong because he has: AA-focus passive, AA focused ult passive, auto reset, q as an auto, can auto during E, and R gives you free defensive stats which is never good on a non-tank. Nerfing the defensive stats and the E would be the best ways to cut it as the other elements of his kit are too item dependent and you'd need to nerf items.
