Darius Is too overpowering

Ever since the juggernaut rework Darius has become this unstoppable menace that you can not kill unless you bring an army. (all 5 members of your team) I love to play is melee champions; Riven riven, Yasuo yasuo, Rammus rammus, etc. Since I play only melee champions, I dread seeing an enemy darius getting picked on the enemy team. He is by far the strongest melee champion in the game by a mile, and was the reason I quit playing league last season. I came back, and decided to simply ban Darius every single game. But that shouldn't have to be that case. There should not be a champion in this game that has the burst of a Zed zed, the tankiness of a Rammus rammus, the mobility of a Volibear volibear, the cc of a Nasus Nasus, the poke of a Lissandra Lissandra, and the ridiculous reset power of old mastery MasterYi Yi. It takes way too much communication and cooperation to kill a Darius cleanly, and since there is no voice chat in league, you just have to pray your team can kill this monster. I know that Darius is more viable in the lcs because of his changes, though out of the lcs; he is ruining any melee, or low mobility champions day.

(I think the play style of Darius is immensely boring because it feels to easy and I don't have to think about a fight before it happens, so don't tell me to join the dark side and play that champ)

Thank you for reading, This post had a pinch of salt in it, but I tried to keep it logical for the most part, I hope this is heard and something gets done about it.

You need to learn to play around him rather than despite him. Darius is only really powerful if he gets 5 stacks on you, so to fight him, you get in hit him, and get out before he can hit you. Also, any ranged harass of farm abilities reduce his effectiveness in Lane significantly. If you can cs well (under tower mostly) without fighting him, he falls off super hard until he gets tanky (as Darii tend to buy black cleaver first). You are NOT MEANT TO DUEL HIM, so stop trying unless you are playing Fiora or a really good duelist.

If you enjoy playing league of legends a certain way, (The way I enjoy playing most melee champions) Why should I be FORCED to play direct counters to Darius just because he is so ridiculously strong at fighting and dominating lane. Its so demotivating

Your not, but your also not supposed to 1v1 Darius without a good duelist. If you pick a champ you like, you should know how to play them in ALL situations, not just the ones you like to be in. Darius is another one of those situations. If you decide to play into Darius's strength, then of course you are gonna lose. Play into his weaknesses. All champions have strengths and weaknesses, and getting kited, and having a windup time is Darius's.

Also copy pasting the same answer you give to someone to another person is rude and makes your response very impersonal.

Darius is supposed to be dominating in lane, as his whole purpose is to snowball there and get a lead that carries him to the mid and late game. He does tons of damage up close, but none from afar. Also, his main poke (his Q) is very telegraphed and 2 of the 3 champs you say you like playing have very low cd dashes, so you can probably dodge it.

In any moba, counter picking is a thing. You can't expect a champ to be viable in every single matchup. Darius is weak against ranged poke. Gnar Teemo Azir Pantheon stuff like that

Black Cleaver, believe it or not, provides a LOT of health for an armor shredding item.

And besides, any smart Darius doesn't need 5 stacks to fuck you up. He hits 6, lands an E (if he has to flash then fuck it he doesn't need it), lands a W for the slow and manages to hit you with either side of his axe. That's 1-2 stacks and an average 200-300 damage that early on (assuming he starts long sword or has a bit of AD in runes and masteries).

Then, if you don't flash out, he's going to hit you again and ult you for most of your health.

Fun gameplay.

It provides 300 health. Considering that the item costs 3500G (soon to be 3100G), the really isn't enough to make him anything remotely bulky. What makes him durable are the fact that he can typically build a level advantage when played well, providing a strong boost to his base stats compared to his opponents.

He really isn't difficult if you know how to trade, manage the minion wave and what minions you can safely go for.

As a Darius main i do think that the fact that he can build tank and out damage most melee champions is a little B.S. This is mostly because of the scaling on his Q which increases every level and starts off at over 100% AD. The way you can absolutely rape a Darius in lane is by having high mobility ranged characters. I highly disagree with the statement that he has the poke of a Lissandra . For the most part, he is highly immobile and gets shut down by hard CC and stuns pretty easily. He has no form of escape besides just walking away, and he can be killed while casting his ult which (believe it or not) makes it a lot harder on him. The way RIOT would have to go about nerfing Darius would be to decrease the scaling on his Q and to also decrease the armor pen on his E. RIOT did make him to be a pentakilling monster and he's just always going to be that way. People like Vayne and her condemn can destroy a Darius in lane.

You dont have to play direct counters to Darius just play who you want, play safe, and when laning phase is over then you're good.

I main him since start of s3 and before his rework you coulda pick champs likeTeemo Yorick and own him pretty easily, but the reason he got reworked was he didnt had any sustain in lane, and champion like gnar were added to the game, champs like ekko who have poke and they are fast AF,so with his rework they gave him lane sustain and teamfight sustain but also made him more open to counterplay( adding delay on Q,removie passive MS,Q widht nerf.Honestly I dont even count how many games i played since his rework but only champs that can really destroy Darius (at least if i play him) are Vayne Quinn and very very VERY VERY skilled Riven

Darius does not have the burst of Zed, he isn't as tanky as Rammus, he doesn't have the mobility of Volibear (lol wtf, he doesn't have any mobility-enhancing abilities at all), Nasus doesn't have very much CC (he has less than Darius tbh), and he certainly doesn't have Lissandra's poke.

Also, you play Riven? Riven counters Darius in lane. Any Darius that beats you in lane either had jungle help or played better than you.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

Darius vs Riven is kind of a skill match-up. If the Riven is bad enough that they can't dodge or shield his Qs, they are going to suffer for their incompetence. The lane gets rougher when Darius has a lead or completes Phage and Sunfire Cape (or Black Cleaver and Chain Vest/Ninja Tabi), but it is still winnable when played well.

Considering the OP is Silver 5, it is quite safe to assume that they are a bad Riven player; being in Silver 5 generally indicates they are a bad player anyways.

Riven v darius is a skill matchup with favorability to darius. Riven doesnt counter darius.

Later game riven falls off much harder against darius when both reach their full builds.

No, she certainly does counter Darius.

http://champion.gg/matchup/Riven/Darius/Top

Statistically Riven beats the shit out of Darius right now despite the fact that Riven is overall under-performing top lane, compared to Darius' more average performance. When Riven was actually doing well in general she still maintained a positive win rate against him even in Darius' heyday shortly after the juggernaut update.

Late game Riven falls off much harder against Darius? That's nice. Pantheon gets outscaled by just about everyone top, but he still counters a lot of him due to his superior laning.

I just play around darius's abilities, and deny him kills and I just farm. As a melee champ you have to be very careful against him, make a mistake and your dead

TheHurricaneGamr1 votes

You kinda have to not engage on Darius in lane, and play someone tanky who can deal with his damage. You should also go for short trades, as Darius struggles with those. Also in teamfights, he can usually be easily kited around by the ADC.

Tychusfindlay9191 votes

The real question is why the hell are you playing yasuo or riven into darius? Expect a hard time. Darius has counters and skill matchups.

Pick up trundle.

Pick up gnar.

Pick up ryze.

As someone noted, the more stacks darius gets on you, the better off he is. Pick a champion that can burst like ryze so that he only gets two or three stacks while you get to unload everything on him in your combo.

Darius is a lane bully who power spikes earlier on in the game, and then has a conditional power spike late game (5 stacks). Late game it should be easier for your team to kite him and make his chances of five stacking near impossible.

Early game darius is oppressive but he has the major drawback of no escapes, making him jg food if he pushes you. Take advantage of that.

I stomped 2 games with Darius yesterday. I'd rather not have him nerfed kthx.

I don't mind him being a hard counter to a few champs, but he doesn't really have a hard counter at all. That's the biggest problem with him right now IMHO.
