For those earning less LP than they lose.... I have a question.

How often do you dodge or surrender?

I watched a video recently that said that a hidden penalty that people dont realize (though they were talking high elo of high diamond-challenger) is that dodging will hurt your mmr, which influences how much LP you gain and lose.

So i am curious if there could be truth to this matter. I added in surrender voting mostly to see if there is a difference between those that surrender more vs those that play a game through even if it ends up being a loss.

Quite honestly this sounds very plausible and could be the reason so many people are seeing less lp gain and more lp loss. Everyone has their reasons for it which if they want to share they can... if not, dont... but perhaps this could be some info some people are looking for.

Edit: By the way, the reason that it hurts the LP is because it lowers your mmr is the reason that the person gave.

Dodging results in immediate LP loss. Why do you think there is some kind of "hidden mechanic"? That makes no sense. Can you link this video so everyone can downvote it? xD

Not direct LP loss, but the amount you win or lose changes based on MMR, the lower it is, the more you lose, the less you gain (from what i understand). Thus, when you dodge it is set as a loss (due to you losing LP) in a sense?

Though i could be completely off on this. But that is why i posted so i can get more info and see if there is some correlation at all. Admittedly it is like 4:32 am and i was just doing some random stuff before falling asleep.

But heres the video,

Did you never dodge or something? You lose LP directly.

So don't say

Not direct LP loss

That's ridiculous.

riot said surrender/dodge does not affect this. + i do not dodge (only when i have like a garen support or something) and surrender is not something you can always control. before the patch they changed rank i got 21 lp per win and -17 per lose. after (no games where played) i got 20 and lost 20.

I dodge every 3-4 games and my mmr is always 1 or 2 division above my rank.

Thats quite a lot of dodging. And you are earning less than you are losing in LP as well?

No, I usually win about +20 to 22 for -13 to -17. I saw this video too and I don't know what to think. Every gain come with a equivalent lose for someone else and this logic is core of how competition work, or at least will smooten over time (like loss prevented or new account). But I've seen Riot mess a little with this rule like when word is in X region, all the D1 account given to pro player fuck the rank system. That's like printing billion of dollars out of nowhere.

What I mean is normally MMR is only affected by true win and defeat, but high elo having different rule wouldn't surprise me.

Then so far the theory is holding true. The higher your mmr, the more you win and less you lose.

Not everyone wins or loses the same amount, even if duoing with someone. So since you are gaining almost 2x as much as you are losing in some cases, and you having 2 divisions more than average mmr.... it is plausible.

Its nothing truely major.... but it is an interesting bit of information however. Though whether dodging or not effects it is still debateable.

Dodging DOES NOT affect your MMR

Dodging DOES NOT affect your MMR

So people say, which is why i wanted to get some information of how many times people dodge and if when they started dodging and surrendering more.... if the amount of LP they gained and lost fluctuated.

People can say "yes it does" or "no it doesnt" all day long, but what i am curious about is the actual numbers.

No offence, but your reply gives nothing that can be discussed or worked with to see if this theory has truth to it or not.
