And no, i do not mean the champion.

I remember everyone saying

"support is the easiest role, i dont see how you can do bad in it!"

"your such a failure at league. Your playing support and cant even play that!"

"support mains are trash at league, they cant even play anything else!"

Autofill comes.

"OH GOD I AM AUTOFILLED SUPPORT!"

"CAN I PLEASE GET A DIFFERENT ROLE? ANYTHING BUT SUPPORT, I CANT SUPPORT!"

Im so glad for autofill, because all the other support mains just rub our hands together and go

"MUHAHAHAHAHA the time of reconing has come. Let the battles begin."

I didn't know Morgana support was easy. You know, maybe you are right. Maybe all those times minions blocking her snare and people hiding behind minions was all in my imagination. Same for the spell shield not blocking basic attacks. :>

support is the easiest role, in terms of game knowledge and mechanics required, BUT!! that does not mean it is an easy role. I personally hate the role, as you have the least influence on the game and most of your jobs can be accomplished by everyone else on the team. And in low elo, unless you are playing something like blitz or a mage bot lane, carrying is pretty difficult.

Jyoeru8 votes

Lol. No.

He's 100% correct. You don't have to manage waves, cs, or actually do anything difficult in lane phase. After lane phase you kinda just get your jg to come with you and throw a few wards in some places. Mid-late game you just exhaust anyone who jumps on your carries and then shield your team.

Theoretically, it should require a lot more game knowledge than most roles because you should need to know a lot of 2v2 matchups and how to play them. In all reality though, you're only going to see about 6 marksmen bot lane in league so you don't even need a lot of game knowledge.

Support isn't easy, but calling it harder than or even as hard as some other roles is a joke.

LightIsMyPath7 votes

Lol support doesn't have to manage a wave?? I hope so much next time I end up in botlane enemy support thinks this:p. Sure you don't have to Cs but you have to contribute to settle the lane, especially if you get pushed in and have to prepare the Cs for your ADC to last hit, also if you are a poking one you have to make sure your poke doesn't push the lane in the wrong moments. I am a mid main and managing the lane is way more easily in solo lane then in a duo lane where you have also to keep in count your actions have to accord with another person way of csing. Also roaming is more difficult: Shoving a wave and go bot as a midlaner when your opponent is not there results in the worst possible scenario in some damage to your turret if enemy mid and jungle were nearby in exchange for some pressure botlane ( they gonna back anyway when a high damage champion with 1-2 levels more then them shows up.. You can't possibly die asap on a roam unless you do something royally stupid like running straight in an under tower blitz ). Do a bad roam as support and you will loose the turret if more enemies are nearby, or lots of hp of it. Misplay in mid as a squishy support and you will likely die in an instant.

Also managing cc in a teamfight is way harder: When I 'm a midlane Lux I don't ask myself"should I keep my Q for peeling my ADC" I just throw it at the enemy ADC if I can and one shot them myself. If I'm a support however I can't mindlessly throw my cc at enemy carries without considering if team will be able to follow up to blow them or if my use of that cc will end with someone insta jumping on my ADC without me doing able to do jackshit cause I am in cool down. And, if it's likely that their carry will be deleted and our jumped on is it a favorable trade? Do I have other tools to keep my dude alive? There are wayy more variants to consider.

SpecterVonBaren9 votes
  1. We have to manage wards because none of you fuckers will do it unless you hit level 9 and get a blue because you don't have to take any risks to just spam that off cooldown.

  2. The support is the one that wins bot lane, whether the ADC survives the enemy going in on them, the ADC gets a kill, or the ADC makes it through lane phase to their power spike depends on the support. You also have to deal with harass, sustain, watching the map more than others.

  3. Hahahahahahahaha! You actually think the jungler or anyone else on my team EVER even entertains the thought of coming with me to ward when I ask? Really?

  4. Oh shut up. That's like saying all you have to do as an Assassin is just gapclose the enemy ADC and unload your combo, or that you just need to follow your team and auto turrets as an ADC. You're obfuscating the intricacies of being a Support.

UkeNeverSeme2 votes

Least game knowledge? Supports live abd die on game knowledge. Cant carry in low elo? A good support will wreck low elo cause people have no clue of how to play against it. Dont need mechanics? Bro do you even bard/thresh/janna? As for having no influence of the gane supports spend the secondmost time out of lane, only next to junglers, so you have every opportunity to influence the game, both micro and macro. So the question now is: Do you even league?

Youre obviously one of those that has played their support champions enough to do something meaningful and think that you know how to support in its entirety. No im not looking you up, you just sound that aarogant.

Supports can carry just fine if they know how to play their champion. Quite a few supports can take their champions to other lanes and win because they know their champion. That and whoever gets a gank first wins the fight unless the other jungler is right there too, or unless you can kill them both which i have done easily as well.

Mid and top and jungle are easy as "shit" as you say, because it took me no time at all to learn the champions for those lanes and win. Enough so that i am camped even when i just get to lane because the enemy laner can not win without 2v1 in mid lane. Even took soraka mid and rushed ZzRot and won.

At least in bott lane theres a challenge seeing as its one of the most contested lanes..... And you have to work together with someone who you may or may not know at all. As a support you are trying to keep track of all the enemy team movements, if top has tele, keeping wards on things to keep dragon safe, you can go help mid or not, you often have a 4-5v2 in bott lane that you have to deal with, while your mid and top are taking towers and your jungler is helping one of those lanes take tower/is coming to help bott.

Please, tell me support is easy as "shit" when every other lane thinks their the best but they have no clue how to team fight at all :) when thats all the adc and support can do is team fight with eachother often in late game being able to win the 2v5 if they work together well enough.

I bet you I could pick up literally any support champion and play decently without any prior experience. Support takes the least amount of skill by far of all the roles. Most of the supports play out the exact same. It's just harrassing during the laning phase and peeling in teamfights. Support also probably has the least amount of mechanical skill required of all the roles overall besides jungling with tanks. Even the hardest supports really aren't hard at all when you don't have to focus on farming.

with supports its actually not so much about mechanics/some are easier and some are harder but thats with every role/ but more about decision making - supports are the ones who control bot lane, they decide when to be aggresive and when to be passive and the outcome of the lane is largely dependent on the support - what they pick and how they play it, and not so much on the adc. Supports are really reaaly important in teamfights and the ability of the support to control the flow of a teamfight is umached. The support has to keep an eye on all other 9 champions and his positioning so he is able to swing the tides of the battle wherever its most needed and usefull. Other roles have the luxury of going ham and minding just themselves and the enemy they are focusing but supports cant afford that. Support takes alot more thinking and knowledhe of how to create situations and how to get out of ones for himslef and for his teammates as well. The mechinics arent that important and its true casting a shield inst very challenging but casting a monsoon corectly so ur team actually uses it and the enemy is pushed to a disandvantage is ome of the most challenging skills in the game even though the ability itslef is super simple

The thing I disagree with is the outcome part. You can CC all you want but if your team and adc run with their tails between their legs, the CC was 'useless' no matter if your team would have won the fight. The support is reliant on their ADC and team to follow up. This is an issue in lower brackets.

Basically the ADC and Support should play like they are one champion. It's the same concept as marriage where two people become one. The support relies heavily on either the ADC early game and/or the entire team late game. The team should also rely on the support but they don't always do that.

DemonikSoul1 votes

thats only true for support supports like soraka/janna/taric etc who anable their teammates. If you feel your teammates are goona be bad and buffing them isnt gonna help

You can CC all you want but if your team and adc run with their tails between their legs

you just pick a different style support. Mage supports who can carry much more relaying on themseves and who have strong lane pressence and good skaling might be more usuefull. Examples:zyra/karma/mf/xin/teemo/sona/brand/jhin etc.

support position is one thing support champion something very different i think you dont make the diffrence:\

support champions that empower their team and debuff enemies can be played in solo lanes (karma/lulu being prime examples) the support position is the poor (literally) person that has to provide assistance to help their lane partner get gold more safely Remember, the Support role only exists because there's literally one too many players for the map to provide consistent goal to. If you can find a way to make up for this, for example setting up a kill lane against a consistently squishy lane, you're doing just what you're supposed to do.

i just stole that from another main support :)

I stopped reading when you said jhin and teemo were viable supps.

In comparison to gameplay and bronze I'm a god at support. That doesn't mean I'm challenger level at it because clearly I'm not a challenger level player since I'm stuck in high play or low diamond for the past 3 seasons. Regardless of what you argue, most people ackwonledge that support is the easiest role or at least one of the easiest. People talk about it being easy or boring or whatever, but the real thing is that the support role is the most strategic role. Mid, top, adc, and even jungle (though not as much) are more hack-and-slash. You hit minions, hit your opponent, and then get out before you die. (Of course, this is dumbed down for the purpose of a board post. I play top a decent amount and I know there are strategic choices one has to make.)

But supports, in my opinion, have a different style of play. The whole game is about prediction, set up, and initiation. It's a strategy game for them; they're the tacticians of the team. And if one thing goes wrong, there could be dire consequences.

And that's why a lot of people don't like it. Most of the support game is spent thinking/planning out the next move/fight, not killing the next wave, which is made increasingly difficult when the main way you have to talk to your team is by typing. The adc doesn't have time to think about whether or not the enemy mid lane is mia or if the support still has exhaust or if their teammate's ultimates are up. They need to focus on last hitting minions to become the superpower the team needs to take down the enemy, and then go in when the support starts to execute their plan. The support should be the one calling the shots, staying in communication with the adc or jungler, or whoever they're going to be fighting with, checking in with everyone about cool downs and summoner spells and how much more money they need for their next big item. It's about checking in on the enemy team, seeing how much of a disadvantage they might be at since the enemy draven just got a bunch of money from his passive, or whatever the situation may be.

It's not just poke and ward

I saw that someone brought up that supporting is just making sure you get a sightstone. Wards are for set up/prediction. If you want a fight to go in your favor, you gotta know there isn't someone sitting nearby. But that's not exclusive for supports. Anyone could get sighstone. In fact, I'd recommend it for the top, mid, and jungle roles. It provides health, vision, and you can sell it when you finish lane phase or need another slot. You can never have too much vision.

Look at it like as if league was a board game. You'll sit there thinking about your next move and then when it's finally your turn to strike you've made sure every little thing goes perfectly. Otherwise you may have just lost the game.

LOL No.

It is not the most "strategic" role what so ever. Jungler is, NO contest. They control the map, the objectives, and often times the vision.

But supports, in my opinion, have a different style of play. The whole game is about prediction, set up, and initiation. It's a strategy game for them; they're the tacticians of the team. And if one thing goes wrong, there could be dire consequences.

Depends entirely on the support. But all the support really has to do is know how to peel. That's it. Sure, applying pressure in lane is nice but any monkey can spam spells towards the adc. You have a decent skill cap on champions without innate offensives because they can punish with AA's when smart when others cannot, but nah. Supports don't need to predict shit 95% of the time.

You ward the exact same spots every game around the same times. Ward drag when it's coming up, scan pit before you do whatever it is you're doing, etc.

And that's why a lot of people don't like it. Most of the support game is spent thinking/planning out the next move/fight, not killing the next wave, which is made increasingly difficult when the main way you have to talk to your team is by typing. Lol no. Just no. Jungler should be shot calling because they are most in tuned with where and who they can make plays with because they are very aware of their power. The only reasons supports have ever shotcalled in competitive play is because they have CC and utility that's easy to use, and since most Bot's in competitive are farm fests they usually have plenty of time to look around the map in order to make calls.

It's not just poke and ward

No. Stop acting like buying an 800g item and placing it at certain spots game after game takes skill.

It doesn't.

Look at it like as if league was a board game. You'll sit there thinking about your next move and then when it's finally your turn to strike you've made sure every little thing goes perfectly. Otherwise you may have just lost the game.

If you want to play chess in League, play jungle, not support.

Support is not a hard role to play. You have some difficult champions that you can play as support, like Thresh for example, but that's because their kit has been nerfed to the point that they have to make proactive plays to be successful. Thresh has to land good hooks and interrupt critical abilities with his flay. Janna? Press E. Q and R as needed. Braindead. Easy. Simple.

Support isn't hard.

I'm just saying, if you've never even touched support how can you say it is easy?

I don't jungle, I'm not gonna come to the boards and say it's easy. It's probably the hardest role in the game tbh.

I don't mid either, I'm not gonna say it's easy.

Each role comes with its own purpose, its own gameplay, and its own tactics. You can't compare 2 different roles to each other, because they don't play the same. So to say one is "easy" means nothing, because some people have easier times at certain roles than others.

If you get auto filled as support and you lose horribly, how can you say it is an easy role? Obviously you can't play it as well as you thought you could.

I just wonder why there are constant arguements on the boards about what role is harder. Who the fuck cares. Different people specialize in different roles, stop arguing about who has it the "hardest" to feed your own egos. It's a videogame, you look like a tool. I don't understand why people feel the constant need to waste tim and energy saying they are better than others because they play this role in a videogame. Like congrats? Here's your medal? You're a mid main and I'm a support main wowza you got me?
