Why is it taboo...

to want to use Poppy ?

I didn't jump on the Illaoi TahmKench Kindred Bard Mordekaiser Ashe bandwagon when they were released or reworked, but I actually like Poppy.

Why is using "new" champs so taboo?

Its always taboo to use a new champ simply because nobody has enough games under their belt with said champ to play it really well.

People don't like new champs/reworks in their game because they were just released and are still new to them.

poppy - old people who like / love her old kit are but hurt so they will express hate for any one who says this new verstion is so good. New champs- they skew rank so much because people just play him without know anything about them

New champions are generally either very strong or very weal.

I'd hardly call it taboo. I've been trying to pick up Gnar lately - after a few games of intermediate AI I moved to teambuilder. Went to continue with that today, and every time the enemy top/jungle was poppy (and my own jungle was poppy a few times). I believe there were 4 or 5 poppy appearances in my 3 games.

That said, I didn't like it. It's strictly because the champion just shows up SO MUCH. I'm trying to pick up a champion, so I want experience in a variety of different lanes. I don't want to just get really good at the Gnar v Poppy matchup, right now I want to just learn how to play Gnar against different kinds of lanes (bullies, ranged, tanks, assassins, AP champions, etc...).

Other side of it is fear of the unknown. Whenever you get a new or reworked champion, things often go 1 of 2 ways: The player is doing it for the first time because it's new, has never tried it in bots or maybe even read about the abilities, and is clueless. Proceeds to feed and the game is lopsided. The player doing it actually knows the champion pretty well (either a natural who read up, or played it on PBE) while their opponent isn't used to playing against it, the player gets fed and the game is lopsided.

People want a fair game. A close game. New champions really throw balance off because people don't know how to play them. Even if the two in the lane know what to do, someone on the team opposite that champion is bound to not know what to do once it gets to mid game and teamfighting. So people who don't want to play the updated champion and aren't interested in learning to play against it right away will understandably not want others to play it either.

Noone wants to see a new/reworked champion in their games until its been out long enough that everyone knows how to play it and against it.

Which is contradictory, but whatever.

This Poppy rework is everything I've dreamed about. Now instead of feeling like an assassin, she feels like an actual tank. She's now also an AD champ. My item 3074 item 3068 worked wonders in my top lane matches. None the less, people are banning her and legitimately give me a hard time when I pick her.

I actually mirrored her in team builder, the guy was still using the item 3078 item 3124 combo. Played against a item 3071 item 3100 Poppy and owned her with my Poppy, too.

if you are talking about ranked, nobody really knows how to counter new champions until a few weeks in. It's just easier to ban them than it is to learn.
