If his account never once played ranked before, 10-0 should be gold or high silver. This tells me 3 things are possible:

A. Your brother didn't go 10-0 B. This incident is made up C. All of the above

if you win all your provisionals from unranked that means your MMR was never "low" and should be placed in gold. R u Derp m8?

yeah never mind the months it took for him to get lvl 30.. The system obviously has no idea how good he is after all those games.

yeah because people can't just buy exp boosts to speed through the lvling, also months? it took me one month to reach lvl 30 without any exp boost.

it took me a month playing just 2~4 games a day. Ofc if you play something like a game daily or something like that it will take you longer but you have a higher drive of playing any game for longer periods of time when you first play it

your first ranked placements take into account your MMR from normals. AKA all the games you played to level up.

That is half the reason you dont play ranked as soon as you hit 30.

You say that, but all I've heard is that ranked takes zero information from any other game mode to determine your MMR and relies solely on the games that you have played in ranked.

Lol? Please tell me where you've found that information? I've played ranked since season 2 and it starts you off at a base ELO of 1200 and you have inflated MMR which you gain MAD MMR points for winning or losing. I believe you have read the wrong information sir. Also, If i'm wrong please feel free to correct me but i'm like 10000000% percent sure it starts off at a base ELO and you go from there. I've also smurfed on another acc ( this being one of them)with like a 70-30 win rate and went 10-0 and got gold 5 or 4 cant remember. It has nothing to do with normal MMR.

Did he play ranked in Season 4? If he did and was Bronze, he is where he should be.

How do you think having a low match rating and being matched in even games against low level opponents means you won't get placed with low level opponents no matter if you win your matches against said low level opponents?
