Why is matchmaking still around MMR and not actual rank

lol so you're high mmr in silver outta dumb luck, you're a legit silver not a smurf

You gotta vs high golds to prove you are good enough to get out of silver.

???

404 Logic

Same applies for any tier When I was d3, I'd have p2 teammates while vsing D4s and D3s How is that fair for me, and how is it fair for my teammates? It's not. Beating d3's to prove they are good enough for P1 makes ZERO sense. Me playing with handicapped teammates vs equal ranks to prove I'm worthy of D2 makes ZERO sense. That doesn't accurately measure my skill because I'm literally on a handicap.

Fuck the MMR system. Prove you are worthy of your rank by beating other players THAT ARE IN YOUR RANK. As of now, rank is just a shiny bragging right, while MMR is the only thing that matters.

######(sidenote: on my silver acct I hear "haha you're silver" while I play with Gold 1's and Plat 5s. Yeah, I'm silver with Gold 1 MMR)

Because players that are Plat or Diamond are the same level of skill just like how Bronze to Gold are the same level of skill. Being a Diamond V and saying you're better than a Plat 1 is extremely arrogant and retarded.

Having Master or Challenger players getting matched with Platinum would be a problem. Having Bronze players getting matched with Platinum players would be a problem (even though I've beaten Platinum players several times, but this isn't about that) There is no problem with Platinum and Diamond players getting matched together because all of you are the same level of monkey.

As for ranking by Divisions only, you would end up waiting 30 minutes to an hour per-match. You're matched with players from other divisions (one ranked tier above or below yours, such as Bronze getting matched with Silver or Silvers getting matched with Bronze or Gold) so you can actually get matches in.

Is diamond 5 not a higher rank than plat 1?

plat and mid-diamond are 2 completely different skill levels

D2 and D1 are legit Diamond. The other 3 are shiny gems.

I am not sure how you actually do to experience that, but as a D3 player in EUW, I have never played with players having more than 1 tier difference with me. (I mean my team mates and opponents all are between D2 and D4, to make it clear), which is not too high as a difference. The only times I have to face a platinium is when he's smurfing with something like 80% winrate over 50 games... and the higher I get, the more balanced the matchmaking is. Maybe it is just the case in NA ?

NA is ass, I second that

If you have lower ranked teammates they must be good enough to play with you, it's simple as that.

Because the lp system was never made to represent current skill. MMR represents current skill, lp/division represents past achievement. No reason to use lp/division over mmr for making games.

If they start making games based off of lp/division, then they need to change lp/division to start representing current skill. That would inturn just mirror the current mmr and bring us back to step 1.

Divisions would represent current skill if MMR system was removed. You only rank up by beating people that are in a similar rank. Anybody who's mmr is high or low, doesnt matter. Can curb stomp every player till you're up to your rank if you deserve it. The MMR system fucks it up and makes it harder to get to X rank for this person than for this other person because of MMR.

If I can beat any Freshman team, I move onto junior varsity team, once I can beat every junior varsity team, I move to varsity, when I can beat every varsity team, I can move onto college freshman team, etc etc.

If I consistently beat the highest ranked golds, I should be in platinum. If I consistently beat the lowest division of platinum, I go up.
