No, because it's become too serious. There's a certain level of seriousness in competition, sure. But when I was a kid, I was in my school's kendo club. We represented our club in competitions. It was physical. It required grueling training. It involved sweat, exhaustion, pain. As serious as the work we put in was...

We did not treat eachother like League players do.

If someone screwed up, at worst they'd get chewed out by the captain. And that was at worst, and only if they themselves did something obviously wrong that they should've known better than to do. Opponents never trash talked. Clubmates never insulted eachother. No one got threatened. It was all sporting and in good fun.

Contrast this to this video game, which exists purely for recreation. Five, six years ago, it was a pleasant game to play. Everyone was always trying new things, the content was fresh and everyone shared an passion for it. Now everyone just wants to be a "pro", for as technically as that term is applied to a video game. That mentality, I believe, is primarily what's created this environment of lashing out at teammates, playing in a self-serving way, and trashing opponents.

It's just not fun anymore. I play every now and then because the core formula is still entertaining, but the overall climate of the game is no longer fun.
