Why you should Vote for Volibear.
I'm going to try to keep this as short and simple as possible, last season I was ranked the #23 volibear in LoL according to Porofessor.com, holding a 61% WR with 261 games played on Voli ranked last season.
Just going to lightly tap on the issues here.
Lore Volibear is a** FREAKING LIGHTNING DEMI-GOD OF THE FRELJORD ** Who led the Ursine into battle with his "Vision" from the lightning from the maelstrom who made the upcoming battle SO DECISIVE that he BECAME THE LEADER OF THE URSINE.
He. is. a. freaking. Lightning. Bear. That's dope af, and his kit doesn't portray the legend he is. Leading to my next point his kit.
KIT
The best thing they have ever done for volibear was make his E stop dashes and gap closers, you can literally stop a Rengar ult if you time it correctly. (its not that hard, just gotta react)
Passive: A watered down Mundo ult that you have no control over, can be countered by: Ignite, Executioners, Thornmail, or if you are just the fed beast on the rift you know you are you can burst him through it before it even begins to proc, due to its slow HoT (healing over time.)
**Q: ** I feel like i shouldn't even have to explain, probably the most fun reason to play volibear is to just Run face first at your opponent and flip them into your team. However this ability is countered by... Everything? At a higher level (this issue started for me around plat 3) people are very good at just not letting Volibear touch you to even flip you, and if you want a chance, you may have to build a Righteous Glory. Thats right, your primary move forces you into buying an item so you can accomplish what your champion is supposed to do.
Countered by: ** Blade of the ruined king, EVERY champion with a dash, Every champion with a speed steroid, Randuins omen, Edge of Night, Banshees Veil, If it slows or stuns it ** stops this ability, you must weave in and out of 4/5 skill shots, and hope that someone is too stupid to preemptively use their dash to KEEP the distance, and use it when you are already too close for your E.
And some champions dont even need to have a dash, Veigar? Here's a cage "Demi God", you're irrelevant.
W: Honestly, out of all of volibears abilities, this one isn't the coolest (2nd coolest) but it does what its supposed to and I really appreciate the recent W buffs to help with JG clear speed, and if used correctly, its a wonderful execute.
E: This ability scales with magic damage, at a .6 AP ratio. You Don't build AP on volibear, making it useless. So in hindsight, unless you are using this ability MID FLIP on a camp, its useless in terms of damage. Its only saving Grace is last seasons buffs that allow you to negate a dash or gap closer, which works as long as your opponent doesn't respect you (because you are playing a dead champion, and no one respects you.)
R: Don't get me started, He gets a statik shiv that procs off of auto attacks for a few seconds, this is the ability that is supposed to show off why HE IS FREAKING VOLIBEAR, DEMI-GOD OF THE FRELJORD, LEADER OF THE URSINE. It doesn't work with his kit (as most of his abilities barely interact with eachother)
Look, as a Volibear main I understand rework will cause everyone to play him, but thats ok with me. on average he has the lowest pick-rate of everyone, and regularly sits at a Win Rate below 48%. The small community of players keeping this champion alive are the real MVPs (looking at you LorenzoFast and the Voli club.) This champion deserve's the rework so much, every character on this list for the rework has been broken or super meta in the last 2 seasons at some point. I really could have made this WAYYY longer and in depth, but these were just some easy highlight points to hammer out really quick.
I am asking you, the reader, to please bring my Favorite champion in league of legends to the glory he deserves. And if you don't? thats fine I guess, because I'll keep playing him.
