PSA: To the "everyone needs to group" crowd.

No, no we don't. When I solo push down top inhib and then put so much pressure on bot lane that they have to send their fed Zed and high impact team fighting Rumble just to deal with me while their Vayne deals with the super minions we don't need to group. The rest of the 4 of you need to learn to utilize the map pressure I have created and get your backsides mid lane where all you will deal with is the support and the jungler in a 4v2 instead of wasting time picking your nose and killing raptors.

There is more than one way to play the game than the "lets group up and smash our face into the enemy face" strategy. Learn to use map pressure and take objectives instead of running around looking for kills and wasting time.

EDIT--Because rereading it I noticed I didn't really state my position very well. I'm not saying to never group, or that grouping alone is bad. This came out of my last game in which the only lane that didn't lose was me, but my laning opponent was a rumble so it did't matter he lost. That left our team of Yi/Vlad/Ziggs/Lucien/Sona to try and deal with teaming fighting a fed Vayne/fed Zed/Jax/Rumble/Nami. We lose that easily and the only chance we had was to split and exploit the map pressure I could create.

Is it always the way to win? No. But in this case it was our best option but people wanted to get caught up in the "we have to group and team fight" BS to focus on actually winning the game.

Following a bad call is better than nobody following calls at all.

I guess you can do that at gold, but guess what... At any Elo higher than that you need to be able to decide what type of comp you are running and your win conditions.

If you have a teamfight / group mid / engage comp. Dont be that guy whos farming minions because "they were close to tower, it would have died"

It really, really is situational.

If people wanna group, just group with them. Forcing a split push, even if its a decent idea generally puts your team on tilt and they'll dive into a 4v5 and blame you, even if they shouldn't engage. Generally in solo queue grouping is better because split pushes require coordination, grouping is just death ball and hit R. Much harder to fuck up grouping.

Recognize your win conditions. If you are playing Vlad/Yi/Lucian/Sona/Ziggs against Zed/Rumble/Jax/Nami/Vayne you should never fight in the jungle 5v5. Look for picks and push lanes. You likely lost not because people grouped but because you were trying to fight in a jungle where Vayne, Rumble and Nami are amazing.

I usually call that we need to group more for when people are deciding to roam alone, without vision, in situations where they will likely lose a 1v1 and the chances of finding the whole damn team is pretty good. Usually more as a measure to reign in teammates that are trying to do something that will undoubtedly get them killed AND fail to create any pressure.

Well usually when I say "We need to group" is when my team is constantly trying to go in 1v2, 2v3 etc., we are already behind, and they are pressing at our base. But if we had a better comp for team fighting, and if we just got 1 good team fight we could turn it around, then I am calling out "we need to group!"
