How to deal with Kennen's poor wave clear?

No matter if I play Kennen top or mid I can't ever seem to clear the minions out fast enough to get to the turret plating even if the person i'm laning against has backed for a long time. Even if I constantly kill the person i'm laning with they will somehow always get the turret before I do. I will only get the tower if my jungler or someone else on my team comes to help me. Can anyone tell me what I should do? I've never had this problem on any other champs. I don't even get what makes his wave clear so poor.

Some things I've tried: I usually last hit minions with q and mostly use item 3152 to clear them and a Elixir of Socery to get more damage on the turret, then again that's later game. I use his w and e to but I don't get why his e only does half damage to minions because it would help so much.

Max your w for better wave clear with e + w.

In my experience, people just rush Zhonya's, run at someone and press R+Zhonya's, then just attack the wave to death because there's nobody alive to contest them doing that.

I mean, the point of picking him is to harass your lane opponent, not for the waveclear per say. Why else does every melee top want to commit suicide when something like Kennen gets picked?

You're doing everything you can and that's the best it's going to get (other than maybe buying a Luden's).

Some champions are good at waveclearing and some are not, Kennen is the latter.
