On the PBE, they're giving Morde the ability to cast W on himself again, but without the DoT portion of it. Since he has no benefits to leaving it on (No DoT, cd starts after effect ends), can the reactivation portion of the ability happen automatically right after activation? That is, press W only once for reactivate+deactivate if self-cast. Just a QoL thing for the guy.

Unless you're talking about keeping the zone active to make the enemy laner scared of going in on you. That would only work against anybody without experience going up against Morde to know that the reactivation damage/heal is negligible and shouldn't stop an engage altogether.
Other than that, I am saying that there is no benefit to keeping up the zone any longer than it needs to be in a solo situation; Cooldown starts after deactivation, and there is no extra damage for keeping it active for an extended period of time.
