Why does Thresh souls give AP?

No changes that buff Thresh thanks.

Even after his recent nerfs he's still an extremely strong and oppressive support to face.

Why not? Play him full AP and buy a hat. :)

I mean. It is kinda nice and definetly makes his hook hurt squishies a little more. Also the flay auto scaling.

I've killed many laners who don't expect Thresh's R damage to be as high as it is (it can get even higher than its fairly large base damage if you collect a lot of souls)

But also not getting MR off of the souls allows a bit more room for Thresh to itemize and be punished by something like a Zyra or a Sona due to their AP damage and he'll have to choose to buy armor for the probable ADC or some MR to survive the support.

I wouldn't mind if the AP was changed to Magic Resistance. It would sollidify him as a tanky support.

Riot thinks everyone should do damage.

Thresh's stacking is one of the game's most over-reaching, if not THE most radical one in this regard in the game, for no reason.

Collecting souls allows him to stack on:

• Armour
• AP
• W shield strength
• Bonus AA damage from E

Stop. Just fucking stop. Pick like a 1 or a couple things to emphasise like the other stacking champs (barring someone like Kindred who has similar problem as Thresh. But at least Kindred is defined entirely by their stacking outside of R, which isn't the case for Thresh), no one tells you that it should have stack empowering on just about everything geez.
