Hecarim is damn broken as a laner.

Rampage RANGE: 350 COST: 20 / 23 / 26 / 29 / 32 MANA COOLDOWN: 4 Rampage ACTIVE: Hecarim cleaves nearby enemies, dealing physical damage (66% damage against minions and monsters). PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 (+ 60% bonus AD) If Hecarim damages at least one enemy unit with this attack, he gains a stack of Rampage for 8 seconds, reducing the base cooldown of this ability by 1 second. This effect can stack up to 2 times.

I'm trying really hard not to be frustrated right now so bare with me.

Alright so I played against a Hecarim twice in the top lane, the first time as Wukong and the second time as Fiora. It's really the second game I want to focus on so here goes my explanation as to why it's broken.

Every time I tried to farm he Q'd be behind minions and firstly took no minion aggro, free poke, 20 mana, and reduces the cd by 1 second. Then I try again and he just repeats it over and over but now he deals damage even faster because it's not on a 2 second cooldown and he has a crystalline flask which means no mana problems for him. As he levels it up it becomes ridiculous amounts of damage because 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 (+ 60% bonus AD) is a lot of damage on a 2 second cooldown. He zones me completely and ends up tower diving resulting in both of us dying. When he returns to lane he has Ninja Tabi's and and negates 10% of my auto attacks.

When I try to duel him he deals 130 Base damage at lvl 5 with 60% bonus dmg on a 2 second CD if he hits it twice on minions/champions. Now I'm not factoring anything but his Q because that's the most annoying part of his kit to play against. I mean no one can deal so much damage on a 2 second cooldown which costs 32 mana at max rank. I mean atleast Nasus has to farm and build CD and also his Q isn't AOE atleast. But if this guys get's CD it's close to 1 second and it's damn broken. I mean I know he needed a buff to his jungling but it's ridiculous for laning against. If you own Hecarim go and play him and see what I mean.

Hecarim is a really, really strong melee laner. Super good Triforce user, high sustain, hard to trade with. Great for teleport meta. Only reason you don't see him in pro play is his lousy 1v2 laning.

You'd have to be a much stronger player to beat him with Fiora or Wukong.

He suffers pretty badly against ranged kitey stuff. Most notably Lissandra.

If he is such a strong laner, why is he played mainly as a jungler?

People are absolutely terrible at picking champions. I have no explanation for why this is. So many things are really strong and go almost entirely unpicked. Some specific recommendations: Swain Sejuani Zyra -- make sure you're taking Zyra mid and not support here. Be advised that Sejuani is about to become the most broken thing since Warwick unless the PBE changes.

Meanwhile, we spam janky stuff like Vayne Yasuo Jax that honestly has no business being played.

People don't know yet that's why. Swain is a god tier pick for mid/top and yet people still just don't realize it yet.

True, but his buffs sky rocketed his laning by miles compared to what he was before.

who doesnt suffer from lissandra?

Lissandra is generally overtuned.

She doesn't like matchups with long ranged champions.

I'm gonna try him out top now xD. Always wanted to use my Headless Hecarim skin but there's always been much better junglers.

Garen Darius pretty much counters him hard for unpopular champs like these two.

lol.

I read this thread and thought "I haven't seen a Hec in lane in forever."

Go play a ranked game... And had a Hecarim mid vs. Annie.

Dat sustain though. Harassed and harassed and could not kill him for the life of me. Ended up going positive at the end of the game, but still lost to 'team mobility troll': Sivir, Garen, Skarner & Hec... all with ghost. And a Nami but she was kind of irrelevant.

I think I might try him out sometime. Should be interesting to see if he starts getting picked a lot.

he's broken as everything, just what Riot wanted.

he is definitely a strong laner, broken, op? i dont think so he is a bit on the strong side but now where near op. though i have seen what someone who mains hecarim top can do and it is terrifying. so essentially i think hes strong but not op but can be absolutely devastating in the right hands.

Basically, Hecarim is a mobile tanky dps aoe assassin with sustain.

With 4000 hp and just a ghostblade he can one-shot any squishy with his charge and ult, sprinkled with sporadic q's.

Nearly every champion that has mobility while being able to tank and quickly kill your carry(s) I would consider to be overpowered. What's worse is that there is very little counterplay since if you stun him during his initial charge the speed duration will completely nullify the cc: he can't be peeled.

So basucally if your carrys don't have zhonyas and BV they are going to die.
