If Riot wanted to improve solo queue they would remove the duo queue portion of it.
If this actually happens they WILL loose players.

there is pretty much no reason to rank solo. sure, you will face enemies with a bit higher mmr, but its offset by the fact you get skype communication

I'm not saying it's a great idea (I'm still on the fence on this one), but what are your thoughts on why it's bad? Just out of curiosity.
idk, I'm kinda on the fence on this one. It kinda makes sense because o f the fact that this makes the game more team based rather than solo carry and luck based, which is what they are driving for. Honestly, I think it will work out pretty well.
I think you're misreading it as "yolo" queue, that isn't what the game is based on. They've been behind the fact that this is a teamwork-focused game, and even if the preseason might be rough getting used to, this seems like a step in the right direction.
Gotta love people complaining about a system they haven't even used yet. These changes will probably end up being the best thing to come out of the preseason. Personally I have never had an issue playing normals when queuing by myself and getting matched with groups or playing with friends in a group of 3 or more.
People should just try it first and then make a determination before claiming the sky is falling. Of course, this is the LoL boards so I'm not surprised.

EDIT: also chances are or at least in my exprince you wont be put up against teams to much even in bronze/silver i rarely ever saw a duo lanes
Riot you're doing that thing again. Changing something you don't need to. There's ranked 5 for pre-mades we really do not need you to make soloqueue completely unfair. Dealing with one booster is hard enough but dealing with multiple boosters? no thank you.
I think that they will make it good this time around, and yes i said this time around. They had this as the original back when the beta of league came out. Thy thought they hadnt nailed it out yet, so they shelved it. The fact that it took 5 seasons for them to bring it back means ( at least in my mind ) that they probably hashed out some major issues and problems.
I've been playing since Season 1... this is the first time I have legitimately considered dropping League of Legends. What were they thinking? we already have a team queue, just open that up for duo/trio/quad queue and whatever solo queues want to participate can do that. Leave solo queue for solo queuers.

No, this is a great idea. Why? Because now I can pick people who may better represent my skill level, because now I can play with people who are all on the same page in a TEAM game, because I can play with people I can count on. What we have now, especially in lower ranks, is a bunch of ass holes running around trying to be fucking superman. Now I can win or fail on my ability to be part of a team instead of running around in the dark because you fucks don't know what a trinket is.
Now a group of 4 premades can FF whenever they want!

Everyone was whining about solo-que before, now whining about multi-que. The vast proportion of league players will be nice in multi-que, and the trolls that do play will get punished (ty Lyte) So be quiet and raise your Kappas
