I would like to address these two posts that are condemning "adc hate posts"
I'm going to link to these posts right here:
We'll begin with the first link. If you haven't read those posts yet, I strongly suggest that you read them before reading this post so you can get some context and background.
Alright, so the first post argues that there will always be some adcs that will be better than others due to item changes along with buffs and nerfs happening to champions all the time. It's just how the game works. It also criticizes people for being extremely whiny about ADCs, and suggests that people will be upset no matter what if an adc is played. The post sends a message to people to stop focusing so hard on ADCs and instead, to embrace the meta shifts (even if it doesn't state that, the post implies it). After all, it's natural for champions to become unviable due to item changes or buffs/nerfs happening to others or themselves.
The problem with this kind of thinking is that the balancing goal of any game, is to make every champion equally viable within a role and all items be equally viable. Obviously, this is an impossible task, and yet it is tactically sound because any step towards reaching perfect balance is a improvement for the game. The first post acknowledges that perfect balance is impossible. The problem arises when it implies people should embrace the meta. This is not the attitude one wants to adopt when balancing the game. Perfect balance is not taking turns to be OP/viable. It is to have all champions equally balanced.
The post has several reasons for certain ADCs being op, and that is, >
- Because tanks can stoneplate + locket for like 2k shields late game.
- Because Knight's Vow lets you give the ADC 12% damage reduction.
- Because these items synergize well with tanks who are already good at peeling.
These are good reasons. However, if Riot adopted the OP's "embrace the meta" attitude, it is likely that these items will become unviable or otherwise not as great later on because of meta shifts. It creates a great amount of inconsistency and drives people crazy.
Now, I would like to focus on the second post. This post criticizes how many people on the boards are biased and uncritical. It says that most ADC threads are just made up of hate and have little reasoning behind them, and tells people to "get over it." Lastly, the post says that support itemization being overtuned is the reason why ADCs are broken.
There is nothing wrong with the last thing the OP wrote. However, there is a problem with the other content. The OP is being far too extreme about this. The ADC hate threads are quite extreme, as one can tell from reading them. They contain little to no evidence of critical thinking and do not produce reasons for why ADCs are overtuned. In this post, the OP hovers to the other side of the spectrum and tells people to "get over it." Quite ironic when the OP is criticizing ADC threads for having little reasoning.
The learning expericnce here, is that it is best to be moderate and considerate of what one is writing. While the OP attempted to send a message, he ended up as a hypocrite instead.
In essence, while these two threads bring up good points, they have their own flaws as well.
