[PETITION] Bring back old ELO system, with visible MMR

Last 2 seasons, with Riot's soft MMR resets we had tons of issues and this shines with Flex Queue. People don't know where they belong and if they should complain about where they get placed. Also all those promotions matches adds additional stress to players... Ranked games already enough stressful, no need more of that. If player's MMR is about to jump over the tier just let them have that Tier. If they lose next game let them lose it. No need any additional matches to "PROVE" for your system if players is ready or not. It adds stress when people are at 0 LP, cause they don't know if they have the MMR to stay in that division. Or at least make it visible in pre-season and start of season so people can know where they might get placed

That would be too logical and good.

im down with that. The way i see it is the simple and as riot like as it needs to be is like this: (random elo numbers used as examples)

bronze 0-1000 silver 1000-2000 gold 2000-3000 plat 3000-4000

and so on

play ranked gain / lose "mmr" "elo" "ladder points" who cares what you call it.... its your RATING

play a bronze game - gain 20 rating..after the game you now have a 1008 rating. You get your little promoted to silver animation.

exactly 3 game demotion buffer, no confusion.

if your rating should fall below 950 pts at any time after the 3 game protection you get demoted to bronze.

that simple... no need to shroud it all in league point, divisions, and tiers...its asinine

and no games should be played with enemies or team mates X rating above or below...whatever equates to 3 divisions of rating points. so no bronze 800 rating facing off against a silver 1500.

The End

LOVE ME!!!!!!! [slayer-jinx-catface]

I was silver two the season before this last one, and it was the first time I ever played ranked. And when dynamic queue came out me and all my friends played, and I got placed in bronze four, and was unable to get out. But, when I did the flex queue I was against gold, to plat players? Or something like that, and I was given gold three as my rank after I won six out of the ten games I played. AND IF I WAS AGAINST PLAYERS THAT HIGH I DESERVE A HIGHER RANK. Because after, I played the extra game, I was placed in bronze five, and I even won that game. I'm so mad, and really confused.

This makes amazing sense. I want to see my MMR, because it helps me know where I am at performance wise rather than I am about to drop a division. Yes, we can look at third-party websites but that is just an estimate. I simply don't understand this placement algorithm either, I was playing against high plat and low diamond, did well, and won 8-2 and got placed in bronze 3? I don't understand it. Sure I can just climb out.. but that takes time.. I won't continue to get better if I start lower than I am supposed to be. Playing at a lower level is completely different from playing at a high level so when you are in the lower levels you can just play with good mechanics, at higher ELO you have to use your brain. This game is quickly becoming less appealing to me since I have to literally start 3 divisions lower than I should be. Yeah sure, everyone has bad games and I do too. But this isn't about me it's about the community. I can guarantee that most people feel this way and I think you should strongly bring back the old ranked system. Showing MMR will give me a reason why I am placed in that division or even what skill level I am at. Hope you read this. Love you guys!

Nah, i love the current system.

Imagine "oh hey guysim 1200 MMR"

Sounds lame.

BRING ELO BACK!

Uncertainty is more toxic than knowing how good/bad you are!

We here in the Riot conference room frown upon good ideas. We think they are immoral and should not be touched with an 8 foot stick, however, we will focus on more prominent issues such as designing action figures for 5 year olds that don't play this game because that's where our sales guys told us the real market for our growth is.

To be fair, the issue was with other players being able to see your MMR. The system should function as follows.

ONLY YOU can see your own MMR. MMR needs to show Ranges for what League you are in, so you know when you will get promoted and demoted MMR needs to not be available to 3rd party websites. There should still be the "league system" for promotions between major tiers silver>gold and ect.

The last one is only for a grace system, if silver 5 is 1000 MMR, and you get promoted, you could be allowed to stay silver 5 as long as you were above 900 MMR.

I don't understand why they have divisions and mmr.

Sckullzz11/16/2016, 8:45:56 AM1 votes

The old ranked system was bad... I don;t understand how you don't know where you stand when it tells you exactly where you stand by tell you exactly where you stand in the tier... is Silver 4/Gold 3/Plat 2 too specific? I can see showing MMR being useful, but not going back to the old system completely.

Last 2 seasons? What went wrong with the soft reset last season? Also, this season wasn't really a soft reset. It was a hard reset followed by a soft reset which will be yet again followed by a soft reset when the actual season begins.

But making MMR visible is a definite yes. I don't know why the hell Riot has a hard on for hiding numbers that are critical for affecting how we play the game that wouldn't give any player an advantage for knowing them. They also hide the hextech key fragment drop ratio.

why honestly it's just too complicated and the current system is just plain better.

if you want to get rid of promos then you don't need the old elo system back. it's just unorganised and boring tbh

Visible MR in game would be nice. You can check your MR online though.

add a poll my friend

I'd be fine with just the "scrap promos" part too. Feels unnecessary.

ABSINTHEged11/16/2016, 5:39:35 AM1 votes

There are so many problems with this. The most obvious being rank decay affecting MMR. I don't want decayed plat or diamond players popping up randomly in my games just because they took a few weeks off.

Secondly, MMR / rank shifts massively during the end of season rush when people all try to get their smurfs and their friends to gold. I don't even like playing ranked the last few weeks in a season because there's way too much variance. It's like a mad house. It sure would suck to spend most of a season in gold and then have it stolen away a few days before the season ended because of the shift.
