The half XP to level 30 is great for smurfs,bad for new players

I think an double IP update should be made and remove the XP one, as new players are currently a pain in the ass in ranked. Most of them didn't get enough grip on the game but go into ranked and ruin everyone's experience. Also there should be an easy way to make more IP as before I would get to level 30 with more than 20 champs including 6.3k ones. Now, I barely get 16 for ranked of 1350 IP or 3150. I think that the update was made in the wrong section, as new players get with less grip into ranked, and with less champions.

And it's horrible for ranked. Since you now have new players with half the XP jumping into mid/high silver games for the placements. Instantly making that team lose.

I have to say the half-xp for ranked move surprised me. That's like allowing people to play Diablo Hardcore before finishing the game once in normal mode.

Yeah. I can say for sure even before jumping from normals to a mid-high silver placemenet game was a punch, but what about now where you get half the time to learn the game?

Yep. I'm having my placements and made a post about it. Came to this thread thanks to VLADTHEMAGE. The experience is horrible to say the least. Why make ranked placements available if me and my team will, most likely, be destroyed? Silver might be the averge elo but hell, this doesn't really work for anyone.

As I said on your post, the difference is huge. From an fun casual game where everyone chills to the land of counterpicks, tryhards and early stomps is a bumpy ride. I got stomped too, got demoted and now I am climbing after over 1000 ranked games in total. Still I created smurfs and can say Gold will be an easy goal this season, as I hit an wall in teammates on this account, judging by teammates. I already track 2 newbies that aren't that good at the game and 3 days after they hit lvl 30 they lost 2 division each from the initial one. So it is basically just because normals have different MMR. However one smurf always gets me matched with Gold-Plat and I mostly outplay them.

With the addition of champion mastery levels, there's no reason to need to level an account from 1-30 anymore. Just require 16 rank 3+ champs (and only allow rank 3+ picks..) instead of 16 owned champs and remove the leveling system all together.

Sadly in normals getting champs to rank 3 without level matchmaking would be a pain. Also as I said main issue here is not adjusting IP gains along XP

as a new player who recently got lvl 30, im super scared of ever trying my placement matches 0_o how many normal wins should i accumulate before i dip my toe into ranked?

You should play normals until you get a ~50% winrate in lvl 30 normals. But that's you my opinion.

at least wait until you have a few rune pages and tier 3 runes, at least.

I think you should get around 500 normal games. I had 300 and got quite stomped in my first placements. Also try to find a main role/champ and use it in your placements as it will help a lot. Also think about it, even before with twice the XP to level 30 it was a huge difference between normals and placements, as in placements you start in mid-high silver, right now the stomp being even bigger.

They should increase the max level to lvl 60 and show a warning if you are entering ranked below this level.
