hey there. the inaugural thread. Much like meddler, I'm posting up thoughts for the gameplay. I'll try to post bi monthly or quarterly, I know that changes don't happen quickly.
Lets jump right in:
Item Balance:
Items are unbalanced in the current state of runes. we can either fix items, or fix runes. Personally, I think Items are easier, and add strategic depth to the gameplay that doesn't exist right now.
I propose the following items: the magic cleaver, and the magic resist heart.
The magic cleaver: this is an MR shred/tank item, aking to black cleaver. you get some health, you get some ap, you get some cdr (20 percent to match? numbers might need tweaking, but probably, we will get to why later). ad you get a passive that shreds MR, tied to spellcasts instead of auto attacks.
The Magic Heart: This Mana/MR/CDR item functions like frozen heart. the mana and MR numbers are less important that the CDR being 20 percent on this item. Lets get into why.
Transcendence is a rune that converts over capped CDR into stats. Right now, the rune is undertuned to a heavy magic resist build. The issue, of course, is the lack of any significant magic resist and CDR items. The common theme that runs through both proposed items: High MR and CDR.
The rune favors AD and armor builds, offering effective options for players that are playing against AD or against armor, and leaving a tank who wants to play against magic ineffective b y comparison. While some tanks specialize in Armor or in MR, some are versatile enough to play both effectively. The rune/item synchronicity should reflect this versatility in a way that rewards players who can do so, and the easiest way is to have two new items.
