ARAM honestly feels more balanced than Summoner's Rift

Despite the insane damage, tanks feel way more useful on ARAM, despite assassin meta, assassins are kinda garbo in ARAM if they can't get in AND out like zed, leblanc or fizz, rampant feeding or inting is way less common and even if someone goes 0/30 if they are at least trying and putting their damage in during teamfights that is enough to contribute. ARAM is the fast and furious gameplay the kiddies all seem to want, summoner's rift despite the insane speed up mechanics like dragon and the ridiculous damage + CC meta still feels like a slog a lot of the time, especially if you are up against a hard counter in lane, it's just not fun. Despite the teamfighty nature of ARAM individual player skill seems to shine more brightly and carry harder.

Not going to lie, ARAM right now feels like the only reason to keep playing league, I only wish they'd give us a draft mode for it.

Tell me about it. I ve played more than 9k arams I think. And even though runes reforged system is terrible for SR (imo) it actually makes TONS of sense for aram.

If only Riot removed some of the aram buffs (lb, akali for example feel way over the top) and just nerfed the too good picks it would be better imo.

Right now for example LB damage is insane even if you build full tank nautilus, cause lb has increased damage output and naut has increased incoming damage. It's just off on many occasions. I am ok with some assassins having -incoming damage. But they don't need the extra damage dealing, they can already 100-0 without it. So it's just too much.

BTW something OP didn't mention, in ARAM toxicity is infinitely less than in Ranked, (sure it might be because people don't care but even so, i think it's great) I also personally adore not knowing what champ I will play each game, it keeps the experience from becoming stale. And finally, ALTERNATIVE BUILD PATHS. They are so suboptimal in SR that none dares touch them, but they feel really fresh in aram where none will flame you and you can't get stomped in lane because of it.

All in all, aram is great.

ARAM is the mode that the majority of Rito employees spend their workdays playing. It's not surprising they've taken some very hard stances on finally trying to give it some semblance of balance.

In contrast, Summoner's Rift only exists for the E-$sports scene. They intentionally push "exciting" & "flashy" gameplay to get them #LC$BigPlay$. It's been this way for many years now & the primary reason each season becomes progressively less balanced than the previous. The common phrase "this is the worst season yet" that is uttered each year is accurate, because the game does gradually become worse each season.

I agree. Aram only reason some people, including myself still play league. There is no laning phase, no camping and no heavy gold or exp advantages. People there are less toxic and so many builds can work. Can they just bring Nexus Blitz back, thought they were heading that way for shorter games and stuff. Was the best mode & what league should be.

I love Aram; maybe it's because of how short the matches are or because it's not as stressful summoners rift can be. I miss Nexus Blitz. Now THAT was a fun game-mode that I wish Riot made permanent.

it is because they dont touch it for most of the time. while in SR they fuck up more and more and more and more and more and it never stops coming.

ya idk, tanks are weirdly strong in aram

9/10 ARAM wins are decided - since loading screen. Cause that's when you get to see "YOUR LUCK FOR CHAMPIONS". Everyone who's played ARAM long enough - knows that luck for champions is what dictates wins on ARAM.

If you didn't know, champions have innate damage reducers on ARAM like MissFortune and Lux. Other champions have damage buffers. Some champions even have the damage dealt to them reduced innately (Sejuani). Other champions are dealt more damage too.

They actually try to balance out the mode.

I totally agree with OP.

I have left for good ranked games in SR since everything ever since S8 just seems to delete you in 0.5 seconds, you can only play a select pool of champions with specific items. In ARAM I can pretty much play anything I want without feeling totally useless, and even weird builds are acceptable and can work. All roles feel ok and tanks can ACTUALLY tank for 5/6 seconds before dying with proper itemization. Supports are slightly underpowered but I think that´s healthy for ARAM. ADCs tend to be weak until they get some gold (as it should be), and mages do the poke... it feels almost like old League of Legends but without laning, objectives or jungle.

Also, people playing ARAM are nice and chill, there is that too.

Honestly, if they straight up unlocked every single champion in ARAM (aka removing ARAM accounts), I get a feeling ARAM would reach SR playrate

Tbh, rift would probably feel more balanced if your champ was random (but viable in your role). If you saw (pseudo) random champions in every lane it'd feel more balanced than seeing the same 4/5 champs in each role. Lol.

Because aram has mages meta, Tanks are more useful because you can just stack MR against those 3 or 4 ap champions , but tbh about LB , she is broken in aram lol , she goes in as much as she wants and isn't risky as other assassins

ARAM is great but only wish they'd look more closely at the balancing in there.

I think team comps and utility of champs need to be look into. I'd balance these champs who offer too much for the comp by increasing cooldowns, nerfing Ziggs and Veigar's E so it doesn't stay on the field for so long, nerf W's execute towers threshold. Nerf Blitz hook back to a decent range, remove the slow from Pyke's hook. Only in ARAM where those hooks mean death basically. This is what will balance the mode, not let's just give Akali 18% more damage and Ziggs -15% less. "Solved", am I right? (Ziggs win rate still 55%, Akali's still 45%).

Plus I'm having a blast with full lethality Rek'sai when I get her.

you guys like being able to play a solitary lane map where getting flanked is next to impossible? well who would have guessed it.

Jaspers1/31/2020, 11:13:36 AM1 votes

So while looking up some stats for ARAM, I just realised that Kassadin has a 41% win rate in ARAM at the moment. Which is weird as I've seen him absolutely stomp games recently and more pentas on him than anyone else over the last month.
