How to Counter Assassins

I really like Phylol, and I think a lot of his videos are really great, but I disagree with some of what he says in this video. Im just low elo trash, so my opinion is irrelevant to most people im sure, but at the very least his assumption that Zhonyas/GA is all that useful against most assassins is sort of silly. He states that these items will allow the player to get back in the fight while the assassin no longer has cooldowns, but that's just plain demonstrably false.

Most of the assassins we all know and love have some of the shortest ability cooldowns in the game ( etc), and while you might be able to avoid an ultimates damage from these champions, chances are you've already taken enough from their other abilities you've effectively lost "the trade". Couple this with the fact that the champions I mentioned have insane mobility and can easily just avoid you once youre back to life/out of stasis if they need to, and youre left in a position where you lose no matter what, really.

This could play out differently in a teamfight, sure, but that will depend heavily on the way that fight plays out. You could very well find yourself in the middle of the enemy team once youre alive/out of stasis, or maybe just so far away from the fight youll need to burn cooldowns to get back to it.

The video still has solid information in it, but I feel like its more applicable to higher elo where you can rely on your team more to support you against assassins both in lane and in teamfights.
