you should never be placed equal to your previous seasons rank unless that previous season was B5.... since you were B4, I mean... if you won 9 placement matches, sounds like you can get winning a lot and shouldn't have trouble getting out of Bronze.

If Rank 1 is squished down to plat 1 at the beginning of the season everyone else has to be shoved down accordingly.... you going from B4 to B5 makes perfect sense everyone drops a significant amount at the beginning of the season due to the highest ranked players being able to place at a maximum of Plat 1.
