Do I just lack talent to climb?

I hear of people playing league as _literaly _ their very first moba and upon reaching lvl 30 getting platinum within one month of playing. I've been playing for 5 years and just this year managed to get gold.

The best way I can describe how I feel is like having a smaller dick than people who get plat in ONE month on their very FIRST moba

Ever since I started playing ranked in season 5 I have put effort into improving myself and it has taken me farther than I ever imagined. But my time I spent playing ranked in total is maybe 6 months out of 5 years yeah that's not a lot but if people can get plat in on fucking month what does that make me? Do I just lack talent for this game? Are those people just talented? I don't understand.

dude, I just had a game where the tristana went afk lvl 2, the only thing you can do is keep playing, you have a very small number of games under your belt, and there is no such thing as "hard stuck" otherwise I would have not got out of bronze after 500+ games, and out of silver after 700 games, and still on the gold roller coaster, just make every game a chance to learn something new, if you hit a rank after you been through the fire, you would have earned your slot. don't duo q, don't get boosted, and don't pay for "tutoring" play the game and it will come to you, every tier has its obstacles, and it seems gold is the worse so far .

There are many things to mind -

  • player age (younger people can equal better reaction time

  • role and champion pool, some champs can carry significantly easier than others

  • amount of games played - one of the major reasons that players like Hashinshin hit masters is just through burning thru 1200+ games in a season

  • This is the biggest thing: general knowledge of the game tends to grow through a mix of study and practice - i recommend a mix of talking to a high ranking player and/or having them live coach you ingame until you get good instincts, and also watching high elo streamers/youtubers that you enjoy. (They don't even have to play your mains! Just figure out stuff like trading patterns, wave control, and map presence. I've been watching a Jhin onetrick called "I Keep It Taco" and it's actually translated pretty freakin well to my attempt at swapping to toplane from jungle - However, watching someone who mains your role is obviously going to benefit more, even more if they onetrick your main.

  • Honestly, when it comes down to it, Rome wasn't built in a day - it took me 3 years to climb from bronze to plat. Just hammer away at it, never stop learning, and eventually you'll pull yourself over that mountain

Some people are definitely gifted when it comes to competitive games, but also there are people who look that way simply because they've played other similar genres like RTS games or even character-based shooters like overwatch.

Good luck on the climb! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs] -AA

I personally find that very hard to believe. Most first time moba players usually are stuck in silver their whole first season before really learning the game and climbing higher in their second season. There are exceptions of course, but I'd be very surprised if you know several players personally who hit plat after only playing for a month on their very first MOBA

sounds like either those ones are smurfs or just robotic cyborgs who are connected to the system.

It is not 'common' for new players to get plat with in a month, otherwise a much larger percent of the the game's player base would be platinium.

Nah bro, you just haven't actually been learning what you need to. Understand wave control, understand basic macro ( early game rotations to help jungler and roams, mid game lane assignments, late game objective control ) , look at your minimap, understand where to place control wards and normal wards, get basic mechanics or play champions that don't require them, and you will climb to plat in a month just the same. I personally hit gold in under 150 ranked games on my main account at around level 40, but to be fair I just spammed somewhat brainless champs and took advantage of the fact that no one in silver actually counter jungles or responds to my counter jungling.

the game does have a clear 48%-52% winrate algorithm, and a new player could master the microplay of a S tier or better champion and ride that algorithm into low plat. Doesnt mean they are good, or can hold that rank. Theyre just riding the system.

if u die to something make it so u dont die to it again. people tend to make the same mistakes. its usually the same thing. thats all u have to do. think, dont just grind.
