The New Client Is No Longer, "Better"

When league first started up online in 2009, their game was relatively small and simple, which many people liked because just like many games that were enjoyable, they were compact, constantly adding material that were also just as simple to obtain and had a light workload for the computer. Now almost 10 years in, the developers have smoothed out and finalized many of their products. At the same time, these same products were "changed" due to their moto. And believe it or not, it has been for the better in many cases. Though, that is also where heavy problems arise.

For example, ever since the New Client has come about, it kept on receiving many, many, MANY add-ons that just about makes it look just as cluttered as the last client did, but that isn't the point being made here. As we already know, the client itself still requires a lot of tweaks. Which in the mean time, makes it unacceptable/inaccessible to many "older" computers. "That still makes no sense, what do you mean by unacceptable or inaccessible to older computers?" Well I'm glad you asked. As a Techie myself, League in the past used to be superb with computers that had the maximum of about 2 Gigabytes of RAM, a dual core CPU near 2 GHz, onboard graphics, and used under 1 GB of space on your hard drive. That's right, a computer built under the 32-bit specifications worked with old league.

As technology advances, so does league, but that doesn't entail everyone also buying the next generation of the oldest computer model, unless it's supported model officially goes out. In fact, many today have a computer working and ranging with, windows 7, 32-bit (64x biased processor), to fix exceeding the 4+ Gigs RAM issue)) or 64-bit to windows 10. Every one of these models just about range to or exceed 4 gigs of RAM, and the basic "DualCore" edition (wish also means that their hard drive and onboard graphics as been increased as well.) Though, these same consoles barely keep up with league. Which yes, should be expected with older computers, but not by a land slide or 65%+. In fact, many have bought a GPU (graphics card) onto their system. … And they still have issues.

With this new client, it uses up a lot of resources. In fact, I believe it accounts for at least 30% of League's dodges and or, not being able to click" accept" in the queues... And they get punished for it. Even if they were to get past all of the "are you alive" status, you still have the option of almost never having the right rune pages or summoner items for that matter. It is almost like "taking an arrow to the knee." Oh, but I have a fix to the issue. What is that you may ask? First off, after you have all the champions declared on both sides, constantly have a 2 minuet timer before the game starts. Secondly and finally, Wipe the client anew, instead of adding additional "useless" things onto the client URL link the extras and make it look like an icon to understand like: everything residing inside the Home tab. Everything bought on the client, RP and BE will be used on league's webpage instead of the client for store buys. Or how about getting rid of a couple multiple pathing? Examples like, the choice of which summoner icon to use (where you can see and change it at) or Where your chromas reside within each skin, let alone how you advertise the skin? Look, all I am saying is that the client is cluttered and you can fix it with simple modifications. After all, what was most great about league was how you didn't have to own a great system to play DOTA. (ha ha ha, I'm kidding!) All jokes aside though, people's computer systems are something serious to consider.

Even though it may be copying some things, it is best deemed to be more efficient on the matter of computer resource consumption and not all the time does the "low specs" option work and most of the time the dedicated repair tool will not fix the issue. So the next time you update, it may end up being just a matter of if you can even queue up, click that accept button, choose your ban, and declaring your champion. All of which is very beefy.

On a side note, I would love to help in any way I possibly can. Resource manipulation is definitely my specialty. -Sincerely, Haz

With a computer with wich it is not possible to click "accept" I am not sure if someone should enter a match because his ingame FPS will look the same.

I have 3 computer and 1 notebook here. I use for my homeoffice this oldest one also for playing [the others right/left of my are for the kids]. So - I play League with Windows 7 64bit, a Q6600 and a GTX930, 4GB RAM. The FPS are between 100 and 65 on highest quality with 1920x1080, League works well.

Agreed is that it maybe take some additional seconds to connect to the server after lobby. Even in practice tool my computer needs around 20 secondes to establish the connection [I think since 2 patches; but I have a new modem and bandwidth changed same time from 50 to 100MBit so I don´t know if it is computer, client or new modem].

My computer is crap, around 8 years old. If I would have to buy it used I would have to pay around 100EUR [only because of the grafic card].

The last I bought used for the kids did imho cost around 130EUR, was a i7-2600 and I put in a HD6850 (!) wich was in the older (defect) computer [was a Q8300]. League runs with 130-230FPS imho as it does on the other with an i5 and a GTX560.

That is also "old crap". But it works quite well with League. We had a duocore before as well... hm... I think it was an AMD5800. League worked but not really good and only low fps. Would not work any more now. But imho the AMD5800+ is around 15 years old.

So my question is what the computer are about with wich someone will have problems and if it makes sense to work on a smarter client for them. Basic needs on specs are set by the game itself.

Windows 7 32-bit (64x based processor) to windows 10 (with same specs), i2 and earlier CPUs, 400G and under hard drive, 5 gigs and under RAM; not DDR4 or DDR3. No Graphics card, besides the built in on board kind. Many people with these kind of specs are what are seen in bronze 5 to platinum 3 (minus the other fancy equipment.) and are identified in low spec mode receiving about 30 frames (yes, even with everything loaded in game.) But again, as I have said, it isn't the in game-play out that is the issue. It is the client (that you log into and queue up for within) that causes a lot of resources to be used, many of which I claim to be too much mainly because even if the specs are set by the game itself, it is only a preset. Not exactly something your computer really can pull, let alone performing smoothly.

I have a great computer which uses an i9 CPU, 16 Gigs of DDR4 RAM, GTX 1080 TI Graphics card and has 2 terabytes of Hard drive space; this computer is new, but has been acquainted with league for about 5 months now. When I log in and load up the client, it uses 36% of my RAM, 50% disk, 22% GPU, and 48% of my RAM. That is a lot for this kind of computer. You can only imagine what it is like having only the bare minimum- Which is who I'm trying to voice for- especially other 3rd world countries.. I've played with those kind of computers and they are not fun. In fact, they make you want to "kill all humans" (futurerama quote) when your computer is nonresponsive. You just sit there, watching your chance be stripped away because that client is frozen with that constant loop of sound, and animation.

are you aware that you have the option to close the client once the game starts?

it's in the client's option menu, so stop complaining about the client itself. and you have low-spec mode

"Are you aware that you have the option to close the client once the game starts? Stop complaining about the client itself, you also have low-spec mode."

You obviously don't understand because you're not the one going through the issues. Even with these as an option, it still uses too many resources. League has lost many of their players due to needing a higher performing computer. With that being the case, they just chose DOTA over League. Hell, I'd do the same thing.

jesus, are you really saying that dota requires less specs than league?

just so you know if your pc can't run lol there's no way in hell it can run dota.

my friend have 500mb of ram with intel hd graphics chip which is from 2008,

if he can run league on low settings fine, i see no problem of you running it, put low spec mode, put the client to quit, and stop bitching about the client.

"you don't understand cuz you're not the one having those isuues" i don't need to have those issues to know that the client has 0 correlation with the ingame fps when u can shut it down
