I would gladly take my secondary position more if it meant removing autofill

So I was looking over the ask riot post https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2018/03/dev-making-matchmaking-better/ and it pretty much confirmed that queue times, contrarily to popular belief, would not skyrocket without autofill. In fact, there wasn't even an annotation on the queue time graph for when autofill was added because it never significant impacted queue times. The only thing that autofill helped with was getting primary position more.

Autofill is essentially putting people in potentially their worse role more just so they get their second best role less.

Did you miss this one?

Early 2015: Queue times were okay, but at their worst, they hit around 12+ minutes. Early 2016: Position select was really inefficient at launch, so some high level players would wait 26 minutes or more just to play one game. Yikes. Early 2017: Autofill’s introduction, as well as other small fixes, normalized queue times back to 2015 levels. Early 2018: 2017’s iterative improvements, bug fixes, and config changes have gotten League to the healthiest matchmaking state so far.

Contrary to the graphs, I’ve been getting my secondary 80% of the time despite dodging at least 4-5 times per day, honestly I’m of the opinion they should actually increase queue time for at least B5-P5 players because it’s not just autofill I have to worry about but an endless stream of secondary selections that make us so sick of it that we’d rather dodge endlessly than play secondary another time, and I honestly feel that shortening queue only bolsters the amount of dodges that happen so it doesn’t really shorted your “time to get in game” in my experience it lengthens it.

I don’t know how they got these numbers tbh, I’m not saying they are lying but...it doesn’t feel real from my experience, and that’s crazy considering I still haven’t climbed out of silver this season, I can only imagine how bad it’ll be once I get back to high gold.

I agree with the OP's sentiment. Having to be able to play a second role effectively isn't so bad.
