Amumu R and Courage of the Collosus
Does his R count as hard CC. Technically its not a root or stun, as per the text it prevents movement, attacking, or spell casting so idk how this fits since it not classified.

lolwiki says that it is an entangle, which combines root and disarm.
root is a hard cc, so the shield should proc on your Ult. but usually the Shield goes off on your Q already anyway.
I would assume so.
Given the duration of the effect, and the duration of the shield. Might actually not be entirely worth it.
Roots apply CoC
That being said, the combo isn't as good as you'd expect because you prematurely blow your Shield with his bandage toss.
For the purposes of CotC, all CC that makes you lose control over your character's movement counts as hard CC.
