Can the mid lane be enjoyable

Basically every time a mid laner plays a mage against an assasin 90% of the time they get bored or loose and sometimes are the cause. I think mages should get items to avoid burst it’s very annoying to be sitting at 0/0/3 with 143 game vs an assasin who might be 3/1. The factor of playing a mage has become, greatly ignored. The only real mage in the s tier is probably AurelionSol which is bad b/c the saying of “mages have always been meta” Zoe is a assasin mage hybrid and so is lb. The sad fact is no one can one-trick a mage and climb since ether there is no way to beat the assasin early game or you can’t roam. The fact of almost every mage needing a skill cap is a bit to hard if an assasin is easy to play.

Personally, I like mid Annie . But I preferred playing jg to win.

But now that we have SCUTTLERS.

Take your smitesummoner 11 , dematerialize the wave real quick, invade enemy jungle, control scuttles; It's a sort of second jg. You don't even need item 3191 to avoid assassination.

Somehow I'm enjoying mid Ekko Zoe right now. (You might say they are assassins, though.)

Assassins aren't really easy to play, unless they're like a 55%+ win rate champion which means they've been overbuffed and are beyond control of the game or something was nerfed that was keeping them from that 55% win rate and still need to be nerfed most likely(or the thing that was nerfed needs to be buffed back up a tiny bit).

As for mages vs Assassins, all you have to do is play safe, and when they roam, clear the wave to their tower. They'll lose out on the wave and if your bot lane or top lane are aware of the assassin being missing, and are smart, the assassin will get nothing out of it. You'll then be ahead of them. As for anti-burst against an assassin, that would literally remove all an assassin's ability to play the game. If a mage could tank through an assassin's damage, the only person they'll be able in most scenarios to kill is the ADC, and already to kill an ADC the assassin has to be ahead. If you want options to remove burst, buy health. That will lower their damage to you and there are options. Maybe you should stop rushing item 3285 and buy a item 3027 instead and you might survive a little longer.

Also FYI Leblanc is 100% an assassin. Zoe isn't really an assassin, but if she gets ahead enough can do much more than an assassin's level of damage.

  1. Azir doesn't build ROA, he get Nashors tooth...
  2. Lissandra, Ryze, Swain, Galio, Anivia, Malzahar (on occasion), no doubt more that haven't come to mind instantly.

ANY Mage can build ROA. It's a general AP item that can be used by any champion that builds AP and has mana. You don't have to rush a Ludens. People just generally do because it offers more damage earlier.

This is the assassin Meta my friend. People look at pro play and think "there's the meta" but they are wrong. Meta in pro play is completely different to solo Q/non-competitive. The only people that win out against assassins are those with even more burst and/or safety. Thus champions like Zoe still being viable, while most mages have joined Malzahar in the void of Riots ignorance.

Electrocute is pretty much your only hope on most mages, and forget about trying to out roam an assassin, just do you best to ping your teammates and hope they listen while you get work done in midlane/roam top.

Final option is if you can't beat em, join em. I've recently picked up old trusty Diana, the assassin/squishy killer. She's the only example of a champion who has NO core items. She's an AP diver and riot have yet to create anything remotely essential for her (Bloodletter's Vial looked great but they made is ARAM only) so at this point she just needs AP. So you can build ANYTHING on her first item and not be behind (in the right matchups she can rush deathcap first item!). Downside to her is ofc her dive is a one way trip so it's always a good idea to know your limits :P

Though the assassin play style is one that speaks “Do or die” that’s the factor I don’t want try out because sometimes a team can be useless which is a heavy down fall in any assasin and it get common each time...

Some are do or die, some are farm until 6 then go for it. Teams can ALWAYS be useless, but there are those champions that do well into assassins AND bring something to the team later even if behind. Ekko into Zed for example, Ekko can farm for free, harass and poke, and once 6 Zed can't use his ult on an ekko because he'll just answer it with his own. He is also still useful when behind. Diana I've mentioned (can lose lane horribly and still 1 shot the squishies after getting first item). Galio into AP assassins like Fizz and Ekko is really strong (don't try it into Diana!). Lissandra is ok, just make sure you get as much hp as possible because in teamfights you'll be toe to toe with them >.<

These are just the ones I have in my pool for assassin matchup's, but I'm sure there are more.

the problem IN MY OPINION is coup de grace rune with electrocute. That shit is op early game and makes any burst champion a pain to deal with.
