Could Streak Bonuses be a better solution than Bounty Gold?
What is a Streak Bonus? A streak bonus is a small buff that grows the better you play, but can decay when you play worse.
Examples of things that can build your streak bonuses:
- Champion kills/assists
- Nearby Minions die
- Nearby turrets die
- Killing jungle camps
Examples of things that decay streak bonuses:
- Doing nothing (Decays on it's own, so use it or lose it)
- You died
What could a Streak Bonus Give? Giving a streak bonus defensive buffs would only make it difficult to shutdown a champion. So it would be better to instead give these champions a bonus to pushing power and damage. All of these bonuses would scale based off of the size of the kill streak and current game duration.
Examples of things a streak could give:
- Nearby Minions take less damage from other minions
- Flat damage to minions
- Flat damage to turrets
- Adaptive Force
What can Streak Bonuses do better than Bounty Gold? A streak bonus can only last as long as the player can keep a high kill count and low death count. Lowering the amount of gold from champions and replacing it with a small stacking buff that is lost on death would encourage safer plays that are more focused on taking objectives instead of risky fights. If the enemy team is unable to kill the opposing team, they can simply play defensive until the enemies streak dies off. Solo laners are less likely to overwhelm the rest of the game once they are shut down allowing teams to come back from 0/5 lanes. Adding passive pushing bonuses prevents freezing and opens the laner to ganks that can shut down their streak. Junglers would also be discouraged from camping the same lane all game, because they would need gold from jungle camps instead of the lowered champion kill gold.
Streak bonuses also open up a new set of possibilities for items/passives/runes that can affect it's decay, offer extra stats, or offer other ways to build it up.
I appreciate all feedback.
